ಮಂದ್ರ - ಎಸ್.ಎಲ್. ಭೈರಪ್ಪ

The life and accomplishments of Pandit Mohanlal, pure vocalist is marvelously depicted by Dr S L Byrappa in his novel MANDRA written in 2002...... which makes an absorbing reading for several days........
However, human weakness, lust and greediness makes the life of an great artist miserable.....
Mandra depicts the world of North Indian classical music. Its locale is Bombay, Delhi, Gwalior, Banaras, Malva and California. A minor character in the novel asks" While enjoying a work of art you experience heaven. But you see hell, if you peep into the personal life of the artist"
It âs more than befitting that Dr. S L Bhyrappa has been awarded the Saraswati Samman this year.
