DABANGG 2 - HINDI MOVIE

DABANGG 2 glorifies the feel of DABANGG to another level, a meticulously composed album that tries to replicate/recreate the magic of its prequel with potential hit tracks. Lacking in novelty but still delivering bountiful in entertaining contents, Sajid-Wajid delivers a chartbusting album again. Unlike many recently released chartbusting albums that primarily targeted urbane-listeners, it targets a contemporary Bollywood listener and succeeds to great extent. The magic of romance continues to roll in tracks like 'Dagabaaz Re' and 'Saanson Re' while there is alluring massy catchiness in tracks likes 'Fevicol Se' and 'Pandeyjee Seeti'. DABANGG 2 opens big on expectations on box-office and music too delivers what it promises, a total 'paisa-vasool' entertainment that is going to add to the joyride.

DABANGG 2 is a continuation of the amazing exploits of Chulbul 'Robin Hood' Pandey played by Salman Khan. The notable facets of the character include his nonchalance, his wry sense of humor and his tongue-in-cheek dialogues.
This film begins with Chulbul (Now married to Rajjo- Sonkashi Sinha) moving on from being a local inspector in a small town Laalganj to becoming an Inspector-in-charge of Bajariya Thana, a police station in Kanpur, the largest and most populous city in Uttar Pradesh. After arriving in Kanpur, Chulbul immediately gets into action thus bringing him in conflict with Baccha Bhaiyya (Prakash Raj).
It was Wednesday, 26 December 2012, Venue is ORION MALL at Bangalore,
afternoon show. Being holiday, quite a big crowd at PVR Cinemas in the mall.
The movie is entertaining, gives what is reuired for the audience. Hero, (Salman Khan) strong and with power,   entertains with his super power demolishing the bad guys and with little humour and dance.....

DEVARAYANA DURGA

Devarayanadurga is a hill which is situated in Tumkur and has two popular temples, the Yoganarasimha and Bhoganarasimha and is a popular destination for the devotees. The place is a favorite with both pilgrims as well as mountain climbers. The hills with lush green trees on all sides make the climbing a lot enjoyable.
The Bhoganarasimha is at the base of the hill while the Yoga Narasimha is perched at the top of the hill.

The place was originally known as Anebiddasari then as Jadakana Durga after a chief named Jadaka and finally as Devarayanadurga after its capture by Mysore king Chikka Devaraja Wodeyar.
Legend has it that a robber chief named Andhaka or Lingaka had his stronghold here, and he was subdued by Sumati, a prince, whose father, Hemachandra, was the king of Karnata and ruled from Yadupattana. After accomplishing the task, Sumathi is said to have established the city of Bhumandana near the present Nelamangala and taken up residence there for the protection of that part of his father’s kingdom.
Under the Hoysalas, there seems to have been, on the hill, a town called Anebiddasari or the cliff from where the elephant fell. An elephant, which the sthala purana describes as a Gandharva suddenly appeared before the town to the great dismay of the people and after doing considerable damage, tried to walk up the steep rock on the west; it slipped, fell back and was killed.
Under the Vijayanagara Kings, the use of the same name continued, and a large tank called Bukkasamudra, was formed from which the river Jayamangali has its source. Remains of the embankment and of the adjacent town can still be traced.
Yoga Narasimha Temple
Devarayanadurga is around 75 km from Bangalore and 15 km from Tumkur.
The trip was good, as we set out from home around 10.30 am and reached Devarayanadurga by 12.30 pm after having some eats at Kamat Hotel. First went to top of hill,Yoga Narasimha Temple climbing up nicely laid out steps. Lots of monkeys greeting you on the steps. After coming down, visited Bhoga Narasimha Temple and had free lunch as prasada.
Returned via Tumkur and paid little extra for Highway toll.

Dr S L Bhyrappa
Thabbaliyu Neenadhae Maganae - Kannada novel written by Dr S L Bhyarappa, way back in 1968, almost 44 years ago. The issue is making cow slaughter illegal. Even now politicians are politicizing the issue for vote bank.

The author explores the cultural problems experienced by an American woman, newly married to an Indian, adjusting to Indian norms and customs. Since the beginning of Indian Civilization the cow was considered sacred and was treated as mother. This novel depicts a modern man who studies agriculture in the States, returns to India with an American wife with their different views .The theme is one alienation from the fellow human b
eings.

Description of certain events in the novel is simply marvelous .... only Bhyrappa can narrate in such a way that it touches heart of the readers. Kalinga Gowda's son killed by tiger, slaughtering of buffallo's for "bali" to godess, Hilda slaughtering  cow for taking revenge on Poojari Venkatrama are simply hair raising. .....

BOOK - WAITING FOR THE MAHATMA

WAITING FOR THE MAHATMA by R K Narayan, makes a interesting reading. Sriram is twenty. As a mark of his coming of age his grandmother allows his the pass-book to his savings in the local bank, but Sriram is growing up in other ways, too, and an enchanting and unpredictable girl, Bharati leads him into the entourage of Mahatma Gandhi.

These are the opening events in R K Narayan's novel. It is the finest thing he has yet achieved, and his story of the triumphs and tragedies of a raw young zealot in the service of Gandhi is distinguished for its warmth, its humour, its lack of sentimentality and the stamp of absolute truth.

Sriram's evolution into manhood is, for him, strange and bewildering process. Bharati, the girl he worship, is witty, infuriating, capable and, wonder of wonders, condescending to the moonstruck Sriram. Her first loyalty though, is to the Mahatma, a saint blessed with disconcerting common sense, a man whose tragedy is tat he is so much greater than his followers. Most of them accept his ideas enthusiastically, and without realizing it, pervert them to suit their coarser personalities. Sriram is inspired by Gandhi, but he is too easily influenced by glamorous patriots of the type of Jagadish, a terrorist.

Sriram, waiting for the Mahatma to give approval for him to marry Bharati till the end. Though he gives consent and blesses the couple, he was not there to witness the wedding.

It is a tale of remarkable insight into the upsrge of Indian nationalism as witnessed through the eyes and hearts of Sriram and Bharati, and told with the all genius and compassion we have come to expect from R K Narayan.

However, the discussion was not very lively and I walked out from the venue.

BIRTHI MANE - ONE YEAR

December 4, 2011, the day we shifted to our new house BIRTHI MANE, at Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, 13 A Cross, Hebbal, Bengaluru. Though Gruha Pravesha was done on October , two months ago, time was needed to complete interiors..... kitchen cupboards, wardrobes and second painting.
So finally, we all the stuff we had in Marthahalli Colosseo apartments, Flat 109, A Block, and with the help of Ramesh packers and movers, moved to the new house.
People from the movers put things in different cartons, furniture dismantled and packed, fridge, washing machine, thread mill, swing, cots, mattresses and much more. It was a massive exercise. Show-case needed a careful handling and they managed to dismantle it reassemble it successfully, without damage. So also Rishi's computer systems.....
It took few days to re-establish all the utilities like TV connection, Tata-Indicom internet, gas connection etc. Land line connection is not there up till today.
Slowly we managed to sort out and arrange things and settle.....
In the new house, there was Sri Satyanarayana Pooja when Ravi-Vidya were here and  New Year party and  number of get-together on occasion of Yugadi, Navratri, No. of friends from Dubai, visited......Sudhaker Rao Pejavers, Rajeshwar Hollas, Surya-Lakshmi, Ramesh-Shubha's, Madhusudhan-Pushpa, Usha-Suresh Cukkemane,  Rajkumar-Veenas, Sumangali-Sudhakers, Kalpana and children, and more.......
