SHRI DURGAPAMESHWARI TEMPLE - BELMANNU

Belmannu is famous for Shree Durga Parameshwari Temple, which is said to be built before 7th century AD. The oldest Kannada copper plate inscription was found under the foundation of this temple in 1952. The plate states that certain rights were given to the Belmannu Village Council which functioned from the Temple and probably looked after the functioning of the temple. As the inscription dates back to 8th century AD, the temple is believed to be older than the inscription.

We left from Udyavara in the evening to go to Belmannu by car with Nalini, Sujatha and Smitha.

It is about 35 km drive through winding roads, and from Belmannu town, we had to go about 5 km using google map.

Eventually we reached there when it was getting dark.

The temple is about 1500 years old and is well maintained, it is on the top of a small hill and we had to climb up about 25 stairs.

Few devotees were present, Navartari Festival was over.

On the way back, Google map showed bad, mud road to reach Belmannu.

YES, I AM CHANGING

"A friend of mine turned 51.

I asked him what's changing?

He sent me following lines."

Yes, I am changing.

After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children, my friends, now I have started loving myself.

Yes, I am changing.

I just realised that I am not “Atlas”. The world does not rest on my shoulders.

Yes, I am changing.

I now stopped bargaining with vegetables & fruits vendors. After all, a few rupees more is not going to burn a hole in my pocket but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter’s school fees.

Yes, I am changing.

I pay the taxi driver without waiting for the change. The extra money might bring a smile on his face. After all he is toiling much harder for a living than me

Yes, I am changing.

I stopped telling the elderly that they've already narrated that story many times. After all, the story makes them walk down the memory lane & relive the past.

Yes, I am changing.

I've learnt not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. After all, the onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection.

Yes, I am changing.

I give compliments freely & generously. After all it's a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me.

Yes, I am changing.

I've learnt not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. After all, personality speaks louder than appearances.

Yes, I am changing.

I walk away from people who don't value me. After all, they might not know my worth, but I do.

Yes, I am changing.

I remain cool when someone plays dirty politics to outrun me in the rat race. After all, I am not a rat & neither am I in any race.

Yes, I am changing.

I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. After all, it's my emotions that make me human.

Yes, I am changing.

I have learnt that its better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. After all, my ego will keep me aloof whereas with relationships I will never be alone.

Yes, I am changing.

I've learnt to live each day as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last .

Yes, I am changing.

I am doing what makes me happy. After all, I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to me.

'**Spend time with every person around you,

*your families, friends, acquaintance.....
*Make them feel Special.
*Because you never know when time will take them away from you forever''..

*Love all and Forgive all.
*No matter how many times the teeth bite the tongue,

*Even though the eyes don't see each other,
*they see things together, blink simultaneously and cry together. that's "UNITY."

80 years CELEBRATIONS - LEELAVATHI

Leelakka, as we call her, is my chikkappaya, Lakshminarayana Somayaji's daughter.

Her son, Raghavendra Udupa called us on Saturday, invited us for his mother's 80 years along with his 60 years celebrations.

So, we were there for the celebrations at Rama Mandira.

There were more than 200 people for the function, and there was grand feast with holige, mysuru paak, and carry home sweet box.

Ramachandra Somayaji, Leelakka's brother, stays in Sahakaranagara, with his wife Harini returned with us and we came homw had good sleep.

Bhaasa is considered as one of the classical dramatrist in Sanskrit Literature. In Madhyama Vyayoga Bhasa presents an interesting story in which pathos is stored in the integration of heroism and laughter. Many combinations with triple and double turns can be discovered on the subject of presentation of scenes in the movements of this play. This Vyayoga is the combination of twos: this could be between Hidimba and Bhima or between Ghatotkaca and Bhima. But a trinity is present in the name of the play, Madhyama (Middle). Bhasa adapted the story of the Brahmin family from the Sunasepha episode of Aitareya Brahmana. Connecting this story to the stage of forest life of Pandavas, Bhasa created the undercurrent of the theme. The playwright made the idea of the middle in both Pandava story and the Brahmin Story the essential element of his creation.

ಕೇಶವದಾಸ ಎಂಬ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ ಕುಟುಂಬ ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮೂರು ಮಕ್ಕಳೊಡನೆ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಊರಿಗೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಒಬ್ಬ ರಾಕ್ಷಸನು ಸಿಗುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಆ ರಾಕ್ಷಸ ಘಟೋತ್ಗಜ , ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿ ಹಿಡಿಂಬೆಯ ಹಸಿವನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಲು ನರ ಬಲಿ ಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಹೊರಟಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ

ಕೇಶವದಾಸ, ಹೆಂಡತಿ, ಹಿರಿಯ ಮಗ, ಕಿರಿಯ ಮಗ ಯಾರೂ ಹೋಗಲು ಹಿಂಜರಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಮಧ್ಯಮ ಮಗ, ಘಟೋತ್ಗಜ ನೊಡನೆ ಹೋಗಲು ತಯಾರಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಪಾಂಡವರ ಮಧ್ಯಮ ಭೀಮ ಬಂದು ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸಂಕಸ್ತವನ್ನು ಅರಿತು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಈ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಹಿಡಿಂಬೆಯು ಬಂದು ಭೀಮನನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ, ಘಟೋತ್ಗಜನ ತಂದೆ ಎಂದು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ.

ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಹತಾಶೆ, ಭಯ, ಅಸಹಾಯಕತೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅಭಿನಯಿಸಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಹಾಗೇ ಇತರ ಪಾತ್ರಧಾರಿಗಳೂ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ಅಭಿನಯಿಸಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಸುಮಾರು 60 ನಿಮಿಷಗಳ ನಾಟಕವು ಬೆಳಕು, ಸಂಗೀತ, ರಂಗ ಸಜ್ಜಿಕೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ಮೂಡಿ ಬಂದಿದೆ.

ಕವಿ ಬಾಸನ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತದ ಅನುವಾದವನ್ನು ವಿದ್ವಾನ್ ಕೊರ್ಗಿ ಶಂಕರನಾರಾಯಣ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯ ರಚಿಸಿ, ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ದೆಶಿಸಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.

Bhāsa is one of the earliest and most celebrated Indian playwrights in Sanskrit, predating Kalidasa. His name was already well-known by the 1st century BCE and he belongs to the late-Mauryan (322-184 BCE) period at the earliest, but the thirteen plays attached to his name are commonly dated closer to the first or second century CE.
