23rd September 2015
The morning when I normally browse (read) newspaper, from the comforts of my living room, I am hearing couple of people singing Bhajans on the street, accompanied by Harmonium and Tabla. I go outside to see a group of four people singing and playing....

Dressed as Hanuman
They have talent, energy, health and enthusiasm.... they can look for a suitable job for earning their livelihood, but they choose easy or innovative method to earn or dedicate themselves as disciples of Lord SriRamachandra.....
However, the group of Four, three of dressed in the costumes of Hanuman, face painted , one with a harmonium, and the fourth with Tabla, singing HariBhajans nicely, with harmonium and Tabla players with proper synchronization with the songs, walking on the streets..... apparently expecting money from the residents.
I am sure they must be going round different parts of the city, choosing one area per day. They had our share of contribution from my wife Nalini.....

Saturday 12th September 2015

Suresh Cukkemane, Usha from Mysuru, and ourselves set of to see Nandi hills and around at 10 am.

a distance of about 65 km from Bangalore, on the way to Hyderabad National Highway (NH7).
Nandi Hills or Nandidurg or Nandi Betta is an ancient hill fortress of situated in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka. This is a group of hills that lies at an average elevation of about 1,478 meters (4,851 feet) above the sea level.

We stopped near DevanaHalli to see the Jain Temple construction going on and went up the hill, which in not a road, but a track. Huge Jain Thirkankar's temple in the process of construction and few buildings around. It is on the top of the hill and a pleasant wind blowing was sooper.
From there, we proceeded to Nandi Grama, half hour drive and reached BhogaNarasimha Temple at the foot of NandiHills.

The Nandi BhogaNarasimha Temple in the village at the bottom of the hills was built by the Banas who ruled this region in the Ninth Century. This temple is an amalgam of different styles of temple building, because it was renovated by various dynasties that ruled this place.
The place is huge, twin temples, completely out of stone structure, believed to be 1300 years old. The pillars have carvings, beautiful water tank with steps all around and out side the temple, huge garden area, surrounded by veranda. It reminds of the golden era when celebrations, festivals must have going on for years. But now, abandoned and neglected.

After spending an hour, further drive of half hour, we went up the hills, a tourist spot and there is an ancient temple of Yoga Nandeeswara, stone structure,  atop the hill. A fort was built during the period by the chieftains  of Chikkaballapur.  It was strengthened by Tippu Sultan. This fort was considered impregnable, it covers a vast area of 90 acres and soldiers could shoot from all directions without being seen and there is the famous “Tipu Drop”  a 600 metre cliff with a huge rock landing after the drop. Prisoners and convicts during Tipu’s reign were pushed off this cliff.
We spent about an hour and 3pm, feeling hungry, drove down the hill and had nice lunch at NandiUpahar, new hotel, presently clean and neat and serving delicious food.
We were back home BirthMane by 5pm, when UshaSuresh left for Mysuru.

NammaBengaluru has become metropolitan city with no bounds for growth.  City growing in all directions and also the population. People from all over India come to Bengaluru with their families and settle here, for various reasons. Hence the growth in commerce and business.
Entrepreneurship of youngsters also taking new dimensions and food outlets are the focus on start ups. One such area is CAFE ON WHEELS.

You have nice and neat medium sized van with kitchen facility for people to grab fast food. They stand on the roadside, near the van and wait 5 to 10 minutes for fresh fast food to be prepared. Bachelors, the families who like to eat outside on regular basis, prefer these kind of places.
You get any type of food of your choice, burger, GobiManchuri, PaniPuru, PavBaaji, GelabiSamosa, GolGappa, and what not .... and TenderCoconut, SugarCane juice etc etc....
The photographs show the scene around the CoffeeBoard Park, Hebbala, NammaBenagluru in the evenings. Names are very catchy.... StreetyTreats, Kitchen, DosaCentre and more.

In memory of "RangaKarmi'S" (Senior Drama Artists) Honna Shamaiyya and Actor KariBasavayya, DESI artists organized "DesiRangotsava2015"  on Sunday, 6th September 2015 at Ravindra Kalakshetra.

The program was from 9am to 9pm, consisting of three dramas, RangaGeethe, DasaraPada, FolkSongs and Felicitations.
We went only at 3pm to see the ambiance and atmosphere, when the mythological drama "KRISHNA SANDHANA" was in progress. It's story from MahaBharatha, where SriKrishna is going to Kaurava's durbar, mediating to avert the war between Kauravas and Pandavas.

The play is full of songs, heavy music and shining costumes, matching with Kings and Royalties. The dialogues are massive and most of the songs are sung the actors on the stage. It is terrific amount of practice, perseverance and tenacity. Each one of them, DuryoDhana, Karna, Draupadi ,Shakuni, Vidura or SriKrishna..... were performing well.

The drama is could be very well enjoyed by the village crowd, when they sit and watch for 5-6 hours, appreciating the music, songs and kannada dialogues.

We watched for about two hours and left from the place.

I would like to appreciate the effort and interest by the "ChitraBimba" artists.
