MUSIC - TALENTED STREET SINGERS

Saturday, 31st August 2019
BirthiMane, BhuvaneshwariNagara, Bengaluru.

These talented street singers definitely need all the support and encouragement in their enthusiasm.

They are not beggars, but decent fellows who want to show their singing prowess with accompanying instrument.

Dressed in costume of Anjaneya (Hanumantha) with face painted, they go from house to house and street to street at a time.

Their frequency of their visiting places is not known.

However, we had the opportunity of seeing them in front of our house, with harmonium and short presentation  singing.

God Bless them.

Unfortunately, he passed away in his young age before which he made a big name for himself, and even today, after 30 years of his demise, people pay tribute and an award instituted in his name. It's called "Kalinga Navuda Prashasthi". awarded to a distinguished personality in Yakshagana.

This year award was presented to Sridhar Hebbar, a senior Yakshagana Artist.

After the award ceremony and speeches about Kalinga Navuda, Yakshagana prasanga "KHANDAVA DAHANA" by distinguished artists.

Khadava Dahana Story from Mahabharatha. Once upon a time, Agni Devaru (FireGod) had indigestion due to excessive offerings and comes to Shwethaki Maharaja and requests him engulf Khandava forest to subdue his indigestion. The Maharaja refuses as it is under the care of someone else. Agni Deva goes to Arjuna and with help of Krishna, Shwethaki Maharaja was forced to allow AgniDeva to engulf (Dahana) Khandava Forest.
