TEMPLE VISIT - NANDI GRAMA/HILLS

Nandi Grama/Hills, near Bengaluru




Jayalakshmi and her husband KrishnaMoorthy Bhat, their son Niranjan and wife Vinaya (recently married) were at BirthiMane, Bengaluru for lunch and visit. After lunch at home, 2.30 pm we all left for Nandi Grama and Nandi hills, which is distance of 60 km from Bengaluru.


First we reached nandiGrama, which has a beautiful, 1300 years old, huge  magnificient BhogaNandishwara Temple. It is situated in the foothills of NandiHills.The original temple was built in 19th century by Bana Queen Ratnavali and underwent changes and modifications under five dynasties, Ganga, Chola, Hoysala, Pallavas and finally VijayaNagara empire,  who ruled the place.






It houses three temples - Arunachaleshwara, (Childhood Phase od Lord Shiva)Bhoga Nandishwara (Youthful phase od Lord Shiva), Uma Maheshwara (depicts wedding scenes of Shiva and Parvathi).

YogaNandishawara Temple is on the top of Nandi Hills. and signifies Shiva in his renunciation phase.




After visiting BhogaNandishwara Temple, we proceeded on top of hills, beautiful, picturesque  drive  0f half an hour. The entrance fee for the car was Rs.100/-




The hills are actually five hills which are the sources of five different rivers, namely Palar, Pinakini, Akravathy, Papagni and Swarnamukhi.


After spending some time at the YogaNandishwara Temple and seeing the view around, we lft from there at 7 pm to reach back home at 8.20 pm.
