We reached the venue by 11.30 am. met quite a few relations, did some socialization and had sumptuous grand lunch, usual for such occasion.

The something special about the event, is happenings on the stage is displayed on huge screen.

SRINGERI TEMPLE - REVISITED

After spending the night in Chikkamagalur, at Dr Hebbar and Ragini's house, left at 6 am to Temple town Sringeri, a distance of 96 km to reach at 8.15am, The hilly and winding road, with beautiful forest trees and pleasant weather.

Shri Sharadamba Temple at Sringeri on the banks of river Tunga, is a place where one feels immense joy and source of energy.  It's on a sprawling area well maintained with all facilities for tourists and others visiting.

The presiding deity is Shri Sharadamba, has glorious history, thousands of people visit the temple everyday and get the blessings.

It was a pleasant visit to the temple, had some breakfast in a hotel and proceeded to Udupi.

It's the Brahmopadesha of twin boys, CHIRAG and ANURAG, sons of Vaishnavi, d/o of Subbanna and Kusuma of Totadoor. They are relations and well wishers nice people, we had to attend the function.

It is the thread ceremony of boys attaining 8/9 years, entry to formal education in Gurukula in the olden days. Nowadays, it is a function for get-together and socialization of friends and relations.

C G K RASHTRIYA RANGOTSAVA - 2017

The fourth edition of CGK Rashtriya Rangotsava 2017 was organized by Ranga Nirantara, theater group, from May 15 - 20, 2017

The  inaugural function was held on 15th May with writer Deavanoora Mahadeva, State Minister, Umashri, Vijayamma, Prakash Rai, veteran actor and others.

Outside the venue, the photographs of past personalities who worked for theater and drama and created a niche for themselves. The organizers spent lot of time and effort to collect these forgotten heroes of theater and pay tribute to them for their contribution to theater and society in general.

EKAA DASHAANANA (ಏಕಾ ದಶಾನನ) - KANNADA DRAMA

KALAVIDARU

Ekaa Dashaanana (ಏಕಾ ದಶಾನನ) Kannada Drama was presented at CGK Rashtriya Rangotsava, as a part of 5-day theater festival in memory of C G KrishnaMoorthy.

Very effective, excellent, short (40 minutes) play was presented by Drama Group from MoodaBidri.

RAVANESHWARA

SCENES FROM THE PLAY

The story taken from Ramayana, the epic, the last part when SriRamachadra was to kill Ravana for all his bad deeds and Adharma acts.

Lanka Ravaneshwara\s having ten heads, highlighting the character of eleventh head, as highly learned person, disciple of SriRama. When SriRama enters Lanka with Vanara Sainya, for a battle with Ravana, he had to perform RamaRaksha Yaaga, but could not find a suitable priest (Purohit), He sends Hanumantha to request Ravana, to be purohit to perform Yaaga. Though he kept Rama\s wife, Sita as captive, he was doubtful whether Ravana will accept his invitation.

Ravana accepts his invitation and begins to perform Yaaga, but raises objection that he should be accompanied by his wife. Though he kept her captive, he releases her for the ritual, then she should go back to captivity at AshokaVana.

Eventually, Ravana as a person wins SriRama's heart, but in the battle field, Ravana was killed.

The presentation of the play was superb with lighting effect, sound, stage setting and music. The acting and dialogues by all actors were excellent and hats off to the Director JeevanRam Sullya.

NAVYA-ATHREYA WEDDING CE;EBRATIONS

They say, "Marriages are made in Heaven and celebrated here"

It was a life changing event for Navya. D/O of Satish Usha Hande from Mysore. They are well wishers and known to us for a long time. Usha\s parents are Mandarthi Vishwanatha Udupa. also a close well wishers and nice gentleman.

Navya and Neha are daughters of SatishUshaHande.

Wedding was arranged in three stages:

VARAPOOJE AND GET-TOGETHER: That was in the evening of Thursday, 11th May 2017 at the same venue. The parents of Navya and Athreya are seated on the dais and the purohit (priest) administering the procedure of engagement, varapooje and followed by entertainment program as part of get-together.  The young relations and friends of boy and girl dance to the tune of hot music and spread the happiness on the occasion of the wedding celebrations. The program followed by grand dinner at the venue

WEDDING : Friday 12th May, morning, after breakfast, girl's and boys relations and close friends, with grand saree and jewellary welcome the boys relations and friends. The girl's uncle escorts the bride to the dais and the groom standing behind a curtain. With the priests chanting mantra for auspicious occasion and blessing the couple, bride and groom exchange garlands, as the first step of the celebrations/ That is followed by KanyaDaana by bride's parents and other procedures.

SaptaPadi and MangalyaDharana follows and the blessings by by Purohits and elders. Relations and friends wish and bless the newly married couple.

Grand Lunch follows, as usual on such occasion, with variety of items and sweets.

RECEPTION : In the evening after 7pm, again get-together for a formal reception, A music program was arranged for the entertainment of the guests. The guests line up to greet and wish the couple, and for video and photo pose.

A buffet dinner was arranged for all with chat, roti, sweets and much more.

We also wish the newly married NAVYA AND ATHREYA, a long happy married life. God Bless.
