PEACOCKS AROUND BIRTHI SALEKERI

Friday 19th May 2017

Peacocks are beautiful birds to watch. There are many of them around our house at Birthi, Salekeri. Specially in the mornings, they sit on rooftop, and make noise and fly around.

The common name is Peafowl, the male spices called Peacock and female called Peahen.

Peacocks are known for their piercing call and extravagant plumage. They have an eye spotted tail or train of covert feathers which they display as part of courtship ritual. The Indian peacock has iridescent blue and green plumage. The tail feathers are marked with eye spots, best seen when a peacock fans his tail. The female also displays her plumage to ward off female competition or signal danger to her young.

I tried to click some photos when they were around the house, but they always run away.

Here are some clicks.
