"UTTARAKANDA" NOVEL DISCUSSION

Uttara Kanda is recent novel written by Celebrity Kannada Novelist, Saraswathi Samman Recipient Dr S L Byrappa. His novels are widely and people look forward to his new novels.


His famous books are "ವಂಶ ವೃಕ್ಷ", " ಗೃಹ ಭಂಗ", ಪರ್ವ, ಆವರಣ, ಮಂದ್ರ, ಸಾರ್ಥ, ದಾಟು, and many more.


Each novel has a unique theme and Byrappa's ability to create the situation and make the reader to visualize the environment is marvelous and simply fantastic. When you read his novels, there is a feeling of your attachment with characters and sympathize or hate.


Discussion about the novel "UTTARA KANDA" was organized by  PriyaDarshini Sanskritika Vedike, SrirangaPattana, at Sharada Vilasa College, Mysuru.

Four speakers Sri Ga. Na. Bhatta, Smt Sahana VijayaKumar, Sm. Asha Raghu and Sri Ajakkal Girish Bhat presented their esaays on  the different issues in the novel.

Smt. Asha Raghu on characters Urmila, Lakshmana and other and
Sri. Ajakkal Girish Bhat on Nature and people relation.

It was a whole day program with lunch provided (BisiBelebath, CurdRice and Jaamoon and Bhajji), and post lunch session also had question-answer session and closing remarks by Dr S L Byrappa.

The motivation for writing the novel "UTTARA KAANDA" was from a painting of deer, seen at bed and breakfast hotel in London during his tour of England. The Epic Valmiki Ramayana as seen him and translated into novel as seen by him, adding his own version.

An article appeared in the newspaper by Ga.Na. Bhat also can be seen.

We traveled by train the morning just in time to reach the venue by 10 am and we left at 5 pm when the program got over. After visiting Mr Prasads, we returned to Bangalore at 10 pm by train.
