ಅದೊಂದು ಸುಂದರವಾದ, ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಟಕ. ಸಮುದಾಯ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, ಪ್ರುಸ್ತುತ  ಪಡಿಸಿದ ಮೊಘುಲ್ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯದ ದೊರೆಗಳ ಒಳಜಗಳ, ಸಿಂಹಾಸನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕಾದಾಟ, ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಔರಂಗಜೇಬ್ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆ ಬಾದಶಹ ಷಹಜಹಾನ್ ನನ್ನೇ  ಬಂದಿಯಾಗಿರಿಸಿ ತಾನು ದೊರೆಯಾಗುವುದರ ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶ  ರಮಣೀಯವಾಗಿ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸಿದ ನಾಟಕ.

ಎಂ.ಎಸ್.ಸತ್ಯು ಅವರು ನಿರ್ದೇಶಿಸಿದ, ಸುಮಾರು ಎರಡು ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲದ ನಾಟಕದ ಸಂಭಾಷಣೆ, ರಂಗ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸ, ವೇಷ ಭೂಷಣ, ಸಂಗೀತ, ಹಾಡುಗಳು, ನೃತ್ಯ, ಕಲಾವಿದರ ಅಭಿನಯ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಮನ ಮೆಚ್ಚುವಂತಿತ್ತು. 

ನಾಟಕದ ಕೆಲವು ದೃಶ್ಯಗಳು 

The Indian middle age had also witnessed a ‘Mahabharatha (great war) akin to the legendary Kurukshethra war. All the princely families of Northern India had to participate in battles fought among Badshah Shaajahan’s four sons, in 1658, for the inheritance of the Moghul empire. It had also to be decided whether the crown should be inherited by the first son as per the Indian lineage or as per the practice that obtained in Taimur’s lineage – the victorious son becoming the heir to the throne. The battles among Daaraa, Shuja, Aurangzeb and Muraad, despite ending decisively, would still be influencing the continuation of Moghul Sultanate in the ensuing decades. They would also impact the future of India for centuries. 

The play Vaarasudaaraa, dealing with Mahabharatha of Middle Ages, keeps aloof from judging rights and wrongs as also simplification. It only mirrors historic conflicts.

This four act play, perhaps for the first time, brings out the greatness in the characters of the naked Sufi saint Sarmad and Shehzaadi Jahanara. It also brings to the centre stage the kind of culture, tradition, nation and beliefs we inherit. 

ಕಲಾವಿದರು 

ಎಮ್ ಎಸ್ ಸತ್ಯು ಅವರು ಹಾಜರಿದ್ದು ಒಂದೆರಡು ನುಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಲಾವಿದರನ್ನು, ತಂಡದವರನ್ನು ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸಿದರು.

ಸಿನೆಮಾ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಿರುತೆರೆಯ ನಟಿ ಗಿರಿಜಾ ಲೋಕೇಶ್ ಹಾಜರಿದ್ದುದು ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
