Artists of drama with Y V GuduRao

T P Kailasam, humourist, playwriter and a great soul, born in 1884 in Bangalore.

He wrote several plays in English and Kannada and has left a huge legacy which is alive even today. He died at the age of 64. He had a great sense of humour and his wit was unmatched. His humorous expressions and instant witty observations endeared him to all his followers and fans.

Y V Gundu Rao organized with concept "Kailasam Jhalak" and "Kailasam Songs" by R Srinath and a Kannada Drama "Home Roolu" by his team.

I was little confused as I went with an idea that I am going to see a drama for 90 minutes, but it turned out to be GunduRao talking about Kailasams humour, Srinath Singing his songs and a drama for 60 mimutes. where a husband unable to settle between his wife and the mother.

BAIYAPPANAHALLI TO NAYANDAHALLI - METRO RIDE

Recently commissioned Metro Rail, purple line from BaiyappanaHalli to NayandaHalli, a distance of about 18 KM through the city, has been much of attraction for NammaBengaluru people.

So, we thought we also join the crowd to experience the  metro ride and reached BaiyappanaHalli station around 2.30 pm and bought metro tickets to the other end, NayandaHalli on Mysore road.

Due to some nasty and uncivilized people in the beginning, the ride was sooper and enjoyable. On road, the same journey takes more than 2 hours in the traffic, metro ride is just 40 minutes.

It was me. mom and Rishi in the team and we bought again tickets to return journey to Byappanahalli and passing through VijayaNagar, Railway Station, KempeGowda, KabboPark, MGRoad and IndiraNagar. some of the stations. From KabbonPark to MagadiRoad, the metro goes in the tunnel, under the ground and whole huge srarion at KempeGowda is claimed to be biggest underground station in India.

It was a smooth, enjoyable, cool ride in NammaMetro.

RETURNING TO BENGALURU

Sunday 15th May 2016

I have booked to return from Alleppey on 15th evening train Bangalore Express to reach here 16th morning. However, Mr Jacob suggested that we could go to Ernakulum/Kochi in the morning, see the place around and catch the same train from Ernakulum in the evening.

But something came up and he had to drop the idea of coming to Ernakulum and we decided to go by train in the morning and bought the ticket at Alleppey for Rs.70 for two and were waiting. On enquiring, we were doubtful of getting the berths at Ernakulum as we have not boarded at the boarding point, and berths may be alloted to somebody else by the TT.

So I dropped the idea of visiting Kochi and returned to Jacob's house and rested. Mr Jacob again deopped us at the railway station at 6.30pm and we got into the Bangalore Express which arrived at 7.30pm and our return journey started and comfortably reached Bangalore Contonment at 8 am next morning where RishiKanth was waiting and we retutned home ending our four day trip to Kerala.

GURUVAYURAPPAN TEMPLE - VISIT

Guruvayoor is about 140 Km from Alleppey and we planned for a day trip by bus and started at 6 am fro the house and Mr Jacob dropped us at the bus stand. We boarded  a volvo A/C bus, they call it "Low floor AC Bus" at 6.15am, and the bus passing through Ernakulam (Kochi) reached at 11 am.

We walked to temple,short distance from bus stand. The crowd was huge and long line to enter the inner sanctorium, After removing shirt and wearing "Panche" and depositing mobiles and camera, we went inside for darshan from distance.

Guruvayur SriKrishna Temple is dedicated to God Krishna, an avatar of Vishnu, is located in the town of Guruvayur, Kerala, It is sometimes referred to as Bhuloka Vaikuntha., Dwaraka of South.

The presiding deity is Lord Vishnu, worshipped in the form of SreeKrishna.The central icon is a four armed Krishna carrying the "Conch PanchaJanya", the "SudarshanaChakra", the mace "Kaumodaki" amd the "Lotus with Holy basil garland"

After some effort, we could enter the inner place for darshana for a short while felt blessed by the visit. Next was for lunch with a huge crowd, with a long line which we avoided by eating in a hotel.

Return trip, we manage to get a bus at 4pm as just after half an hour stuck in a traffic jam due to election rallies and roadshow. Eventually, when reached Alleppey, it was 11 pm and took an auto and reached Jacob's house.

VISIT TO TEMPLES AND PALACE

Second day of our trip is visiting temples and a palace. Our host, Mr and Mrs Jacob accompanied us even though they have different religious belief. 

First was Sree Krishna Temple at Amabalapuzha, a distance of 10 km from Alleppey. It's one of old temple, established during 15-17 AD by the ruler of Chempakasherry, Sri Devanarayan,  huge in size, Lord Krishna is main deity. 

The idol at Ambalapuzha is likened to Parthasarathi with a whip in the right hand and a Shankhu (sacred conch) in the left. This temple is directly associated to Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple. During the raid of Tippu Sultan in 1789, the idol o Sree Krishna from Guruvayoor was brought to the Ambalapuzha temple for safe keeping. The payasam and appam served in the Ambalapuzha temple is famous among the devotees

Our next temple visit was to Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple.

It's about 25km from Alpuzha, and is avery ancient and internationally known centre for devotees of serpent Gods (Nagaraja). It is nestled in a forest glade, like most snake temples. It has over 30,000 images o snakes along the paths and among the trees and is the largest suc temple in Kerala. Women seeking fertility come to worshi here and upon the birth of their child come to hold thanksgiving ceremonies here.

Next was visit to KRISHNAPURAM PALACE MUSEUM another 25 km drive from MannaraSala, we reach a palace Museum.

Currently a protected moument under the Department of Archeology, the palace situated near the KrishnaSwamy Temple at Krishnapuram, was built during the period of King Anizham hirunal Marthanda Varma (1729-1758AD) following the annexation of KayamKulam to the erstwhile princely state of Travancore,

The palace would easily carch the attention of its visitors, due to traditional Kerala style of architecture. The architectural highlights of this palace include a courtyard, gabbled roofs, thick framed doors, narrow corridors and stairways, dormer windows and low roofs.

A highlight among the sights for visiotrs at the Krisnapuram Palace is without doubt the mural found here, depecting the story of GajendraMoksham (salvation of elephant), dating back to 18th Century, this exquisite piece of art is one of the largest murals in Karala and is a fantastic blend of colours and expression.

TRIP TO ALLEPPY

11th May - 15th May 2016

Visiting Kerala, "God's Own Country" , was a long time plan and finally decided to visit on 11th May and booked a sleeper train tickets on Kochuveli Express, boarding at Bengaluru Contonment. It's twelve hour journey through the night, left at 5.15pm. Sleeping through the night reminded of travelling in the train, longtime back travelling to Bombay after college.

Reached early morning Alleppey (Alaphuza) at 5.30am, where our friend Jacob and his wife were at the railway station to take us to their residence. It's a nice house like a resort, near the roadside, Called KappaKada, adjacent to Hyundai Car Showroom. The huge compund with lots of trees, birds chirping, dogs watching the premises and a nice garden. Mr Jacob runs a small business, Finance company with GoldLoan facilities, and his office attached to his house.

First, our visit was to Alleppey town, RajaRajeshwari Temple and a boat trip in the quiet backwaters. There are lots of houseboats where visitors stay inside and enjoy with all facilities.

We took a boat trip for two hours at Rs 600.00 as rentals and the driver, nice guy, took us round in the waters, stopped near a Kerala hotel for lunch, though we did not, and returned watching the sceneries and serenity.

Jacob was there, had lunch in a hotel, returned home. Later in the evening went to Alleppey Beach for some time and returned for the day.
