VISITING OORU - 4 - 7 MAY 2026

 Monday - Thursday, May  4- 7 , 2026

Day 1, Monday 4th May 2026

We reached Udupi Railway Station early morning 4.30am to attend function at Ooru, having left Majestic, Bengaluru, at 6.50 pm Sunday evening.

Proceeded to Udyavara by auto, had beautiful breakfast of Kadubu, chutnet, Sambar.

Took their car, went Birthi, Salekeri, had bath and performed pooja, left for Udupi and paid Tax for Manipal site at Nagarasabhe and went to Kadiyali for lunch at Vijayalakshmi Bhat.

Evening 8 pm. Katte Pooja at Udyavara, Yearly program of team carrying UTSAVA MOORTHY and visiting house.

 After pooja, and prasada (Uppittu, Mango paayasa, Sambaar, Kosambari etc),  we returned to Birthi, Salekeri and rested.

Day 2, Tuesday, 5th May 2026

Morning after breakfast (Ganji) , bath and pooja, visited temples at Salekeri, and Haradi and proceded to Udyavara Chambukal Temple for Chandika Homa.

At 3.30 pm, left Udyavara for Sri Ramachnadrapura Mutt, Maani, near Puttur, 85ikm driving, reached y 6 pm toattend Get-together of SriRaksha Maduve Sambhrama.

After the program and dinner, we stayed in a room in the premises.

Day 3, Wednesday, 6th May 2026

SriRaksha - PavanKumar Maduve Sambhrama:

Many Ex- Dubai friends came for the wedding, it was like a get-together of Dubaites.

After grand lunch, we left the place at 3 pm, proceeded to Vamanjooru, near Mangaluru, to Subramanya Kordale's residence for night halt.

Day 4, Thursday, 7th May 2026

Morning after breakfast (Kadubu, Chutney) went to Polali, 8 km, to Sri Rajarajeshwari Temple, with Subramanyaand , his wife Ragingi, for Darshan of Devi RajaRjeshwari.

At 11 am, we left from the place and proceeded to Maddaana Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple at Inna, 8 km fro Padubidri,  to attend Beegara Outhana, Aarathakshathe of newly wedded couple SriRaksha-PavanKumar.

After grand lunch at Inna, we  reached Udyavara at 4 pm and rested.

Evening at 8 pm, we were dropped at Udupi Railway Station, by Ramakrishna , to catch train Panchaganga Express to Bengaluru at 9 pm.

Reached Yeshvanthpur Station nest morning at 7.30, booked a Taxi and came home by 9pm, thus ending trip to ooru.

OORU TRIP 4D/5N

Tue Feb24 - Sun Mar 1

Visiting ooru has always been a pleasant thinking, attending functions, staying at Birthimane, Salekeri, visiting temples, Beach, sunset, all were good experience.

Day 1: Tue, 24th Feb 2026

Evening 5.30 left from home to Yesvanthpur to catch train to Udupi, "PanchaGanga Express", leaving at 7.10 pm. Rishi, Kavitha and Atharv came in the same train from KSR Railway Station.

Day 2: Wed, 25th Feb

Though I did not have Lower Birth sleeper, I comfortanly slept in one of the vacant Lower birth. At 11pm in the night , somebody came and shouted "It is my seat, get up"  Somehow, we convinced the man that me being senior citizen, difficult to climb up to UB, the man agreed and had good sleep.

Early morning 4.30, the train reached Udupi station. A long time close friend  Ramachandra Udupa cam to the station with his NEXON car, packed our luggage, dropped him in his apartment near the station and Rishi took over the wheels.

Reached Birthi, Salekeri at 5 am, slept for a while, had breakfast prepared by Abhilasha, took bath, performed pooja and got ready for Naandi, Samavarthane function of Sathosh Maduve at Padigaru Temple.

After lunch spent some time at Sathosh's house, reached Padubidri at 5 pm and booked two rooms at Padubidri Comforts, a nice lodging. 

After getting ready for the evening program, "WEDDING GET-TOGETHER"  at Nandikur Raja Rajeshwari Sabbhangana, a distance of 6 km

It was familiarization of Bride's and Grooms party with relatives, friends and well wishers. Nice time spent with fun, jokes, games, songs and dances.

The party went on till 10 pm, after which there was dinner, and we were back in the hotel.

Day 3: Thursday Feb.26

It's Santhosh = Ashwini's wedding Day at the same venue at Nandikur. 

Reached at 9 am, Grooms's party was welcomed  with much fanfare, garlands and sounds of drums. Breakfast followed and the wedding rituals started.

Bride was carried to the stage by Pallakki with relatives and friends dancing and the Bride and Groom exchanged garlands with Purohits chanting "SUMUHOORTHA"

Afterwards, wedding procedure followed with "KanyaDaana", "Saptha Padi", and "Mangalya Dharana"

Grand lunch followed with holige, MysuruPaak, and other items.

We came back to the hotel, relaxed for sometime, packed from the hotel, went to Padubidri Blue Beach for viewing the Sunset, spent some time enjoying breeze and serenity of waves and tides.

Came to Udupi to Santhosh house, had dinner, spent some fun time and returned to Birthi, Salekeri for night's rest.

Day 4: Friday, Feb 27

Morning after breakfast, bath and pooja left for visiting Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple, a distance of 65 km. Had Darshan of the Deity, got prasada and left from there for lunch at Paakashaala at Kumbhashi.

Returned to Birthi. Went to Kundapura with Abhilasha for a short meet up with a Lawyer Shetty and came back.

Day 5:  Saturday Feb 28:

"BEEGARA AUTHANA" - part of Santhosh-Ashwini's wedding 

After breakfast, bath and pooja at birthi, packed our luggage, went to Kadiyali Temple Sharavani Sabhangana, Satynarayana Pooja was performed by the newly wedded couple, followed by grand lunch (Feast), with Holige and Laddu, and carry away sweets in a steel box..

Evening spent some time at Udyavara, relaxed and came to Ramachandra Udupa's house to return the car, had dosa and we were dropped at Udupi KSRTC Bus stand to catch Elephant sleeper Bus (Atharv's favourite) at 9.20 pm

Day 6; Sunday March 1

Arrived Goruguntepalya stop at Bengaluru, at 5.30 am, after having good sleep in the bus.

Engaged Wuber Taxi to Hebbal, we got down at Birthimane, Bengaluru and Rishi, Kavitha and Atharv proceeded to their apartment at Belandooru, thus ending 4D/5N trip to ooru.

1 night at hotel at Padubidri

1 night in the Bus

Happy and relaxed, all went well....

YAKSHAGANA AT BALEKUDRU

 Friday, 26th December 2025

Balekudru, Brahmavara, Udupi Dist.

It was on Friday, 26th Dec. we went to Anegudde Sri Vinayaka Temple, then from there Sri Guru Narasimha Temple at Saligrama with Ramachandra Somayaji.

Afterwards we went to Padmanabha Sahasra House at Gundmi (Gumpa), had some nice Pathrode, spent some time, proceeded to Balkudru to see Yakshagana at the premises of Srnivasa Aithal/Ramachandra Aithal.

We also had Bale ele oota, spent sometime, returned to Birthi, Salekeri, by 10 pm

SITARA BOATING AND SUNRISE VIEW

Boating and Sunrise View at Mabukala, Brahmavara.

It was Sunday, 28th Dec. early morning 5.30, all at home Birthimane, Salekeri, Brahmavara,  ready for boat ride and Sunrise View at Mabukala, a short distance from Home.

TRIP TO OORU : 26 -28 Dec 2025

 Visiting Ooru

 26, 27, 28 December 2025

This time travelling ooru, attending number of programs, visiting temples, meeting people, pleasure trip in the boat, all were fantastic.

GURU NARASIMHA TEMPLE, SALIGRAMA

Left from Bengaluru on 25th night, 11pm in KSRTC Ambaari bus from Goruguntepalya, after reaching there by Wber Taxi

7 am next day reached Udyavara, had beautiful breakfast, proceeded to Birthi Salekeri (Home)

Friday Dec.26:

BATTE VINAYAKA TEMPLE, BARKURU

After bath, pooja at home, went to Barkur for Batte Ganapathi Darshana, then to GuruNarasimha Temple, Saligrama, had anna prasada and came home.

Evening 6pm off to Anegudde for Vinayaka Darshana, then to GuruNarasimha for Darshana, visiting Padmanabha Sahasra at Gundmi, had nice Pathrode.

From there altogether, Ramachandra Somayaji, Padmanabha Sahasra, Wife Shalini and we two went Balekudru for Yakshagana at Ramachandra Aithal'shouse premises.

After watching Yakshagana for sometime, had dinner and came back home.

Saturday, Dec 27

Morning after Pooja at home, went to Harady School, where they were celebrating "VIDYAMRUTHA", 75 years of Vidyamandira Higher Primary School, where I studies from Class 1 to 7, (1954 - 1961)

After lunch returned home for evening "SANGEETHA MALIKE"  music program and Nataka "HAKKI MATTU AVALU" at Home,  Annual program in memory of Late Srikanth Somayaji.

Sunday, Dec 28

Morning 5.30, all went to Mabukala for boat trip and watching sunrise.

Came home by 9 am, breakfast, bath and pooja, proceeded to M G M College Udupi at 11 am for Alumini Day.

After lunch at the college canteen, 4 pm to Udupi Railway station to catch Karwar Express special train to Bengaluru.

Monday, Dec 29

Reached Yeshwanthpura Railway Station at 4.30 am, reached Bengalur Home by 5 am.

The days of 27th and 28th December at Ajjayyana Mane will remain  in our hearts forever. The gentle embrace of the beach morning, the soulful music program, the moving play Hakki & Avalu, and that magical boat ride at dawn—two and a half hours of watching the sun rise and drenching ourselves in its sun light—each moment was a gift. Back at home, laughter mingled with the taste of delicious food, and Amma’s calm composure added a quiet grace to it all.  

Though we missed the presence of those who could not join us, their absence was felt deeply. Let us look forward to the next time, when all of us can come together, share more joy, and weave memories even richer than these.
