Niranjan is grandson of my sister late Bhagyalaksmi (Baabi) and son of Jayalakshmi

He lives with his wife Vinaya at an apartment in Uttarahalli, Bengaluru.

They were married in Manipal, Udupi on 4th Dec.2017. we had witnessed the wedding.

It was a casual visit, as we were returning from a Gruha Pravesha function at KonanaKunte.

However, relaxed for some time, had coffee and left from the place.

VALI VADHE ( ವಾಲಿ ವಧೆ) - KANNADA DRAMA

The beautiful presentaion of story of Vali and Sugreeva from Sri Ramayana Darshanam written by KUVEMPU.

The play is based on two parts of KUVEMPU's Sri Ramayana Darshanam and Pundena Agni Sakshi and Neem Satyavrathanenditam.

HUGE CROWD

The play highlughts the insight into relationships and taste of rich Kannada Literature to younger generation.

VALI, SUGREEVA, HANUMANTHA, TARA AND YOUNG SUGREEVA

The powerful King of Kishkinda, kills a Mayavi in a cave and brother Sugreeva keeps in the cave and blocks the exit. Somehow Vali comes out.

The evil of Vali here turns out be the one who longs for love and regrets his behaviour just before dying and wishes for a loving balanced relationship.

Vali's love for young Sugreeva is beautifully presented in the play with dance, songs and playful acts.

The play includes the elements of Yakshagana,Kalaripayattu and Manipuri Art form.

WE WERE THERE

The music, live singing, lighting, stage setting, dialogues were all excellent.

Govind Bhat Abhyankar and his wife Mangala have been family friends during our Dubai years. 

Their two daughters Shreya and Shruthi have been going to school at that time.

Now they have finished colleges and Shruthi is working.

Years pass,

Govind Bhat bought a new apartment in PRESTIGE FALCON CITY, near to Konana Kunte Metro Station. Building Towers are massive and thousands of apartments in 32 story building complex with so many towers.

We were invited for Gruha Pravesha Ceremony and we were there.

Grand lunch was arranged in the club hall.

SRI KOTINATHESHWARA TEMPLE, PANDUKAL

Pandukal, Near Shivapura, Udupi Dist.

It was Annual Kola Festival at Pandukal Sri Kotinatheshwara Temple.

Pandukal is a small village, 4 km from Shivapura, on Udupi Hebri Highway.

It's about 30

km from Udupi and 6 km from Hebri.

One of the most surprising thing is thousands of people gather at that small place in the night, no bus transport, people come by cars, bikes and trekking from nearby villages.

It's for DEVARA DARSHANA and witnessing KOLA FESTIVAL.

We were there for an hour, witnessed a small part of Kola ritual, dance.

DAKKE BALI - ಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬಲಿ - ಗರಡಿಮನೆ

ವರ್ಷಂಪ್ರತಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ಚಂಡಿಕ ಹೋಮ ಮತ್ತು ಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬಲಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು 17 ನೆ ಫೆಬ್ರುವರಿ ಯಂದು ಸಂಪನ್ನ ಗೊಂಡಿತು.

ಚಂಡಿಕಾ ಹೋಮ 

ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ ದೇವಿಯ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಂಡಿಕ ಹೋಮ ನಡೆದು, ಭರ್ಜರಿ ಊಟದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯೂ ಆಗಿತ್ತು.

ಸಂಜೆ 7.30 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬಲಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಶ್ರೀ ಬಾಲಕೃಷ್ಣ ವೈದ್ಯ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ಭುತವಾಗಿ ನೆರವೇರಿತು.

ಅದು  ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದೂವರೆ ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲದ ನಾಗಾರಾಧನೆ. 

ನಾಗ ಮಂಡಲ 

ನಾಗಮಂಡಲದ ಸುತ್ತ ನಾಗ ಪಾತ್ರಿಯ ಜತೆಗೆ  ಹಾಡು, ನೃತ್ಯ , ಕುಣಿತ ಇದ್ದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ, ವಾದ್ಯವೂ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬಲಿ 

ನಾಗ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಸಂತಸ ಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಹಾವ ಭಾವಗಳು, ಕೋಪ, ವಾತ್ಸಲ್ಯ, ಪ್ರೀತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡ ನೃತ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಾಗ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಆರತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯ ಗೊಂಡಿತು.

ಎಷ್ಟೋ ವರುಷಗಳ ನಂತರ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರದ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಹಾಲಿಂಗೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವರ ದರುಶನವಾಯಿತು.

ಅಂದು ಸಂಜೆ ಹೀಗೇ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರಕ್ಕೆ ಏನೋ ಖರೀದಿಸಲು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಆವರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದೆವು.

ಆಗ ಸಂಜೆಯ ಪೂಜೆಯೂ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.

ಬಾಲ್ಯದ ದಿನಗಳ ನೆನಪು ಮರುಕಳಿಸಿತು.

ಹೈಸ್ಕೂಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವಾಗ, ರಜ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಮದುವೆಯ ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳು  ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಶ್ರೀ ಹಂದಾಡಿ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀನಾರಾಯಣ ಭಟ್ಟರು ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳುತಿದ್ದರು.

ನೂರಾರು ಜನರು ಸಮಾರಂಭಕ್ಕೆ ಊಟದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಭಟ್ಟರು ಮಾಡುತಿದ್ದರು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಳಸುವಿಕೆಗೆ ಅವರು ಕರೆಯುತಿದ್ದರು, ಆಗ ನೂರು ರೂಪಾಯಿಯ ಸಂಭಾವನೆ (ದಕ್ಷಿಣೆ) ಮತ್ತು ಊಟ. ಹೀಗೆ ಹಲವರು ರಜಾ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳೆದ ನೆನಪಾಯಿತು.

ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರದ ಜಾತ್ರೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದೂ ಇದೆ.

ಎಂ. ಜಿ.ಎಂ. ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಗಣಿತ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಶ್ರೀ ಬಿ ವಿ. ಆಚಾರ್ಯರ ಮನೆ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇತ್ತು. ಅವರು ಕಾಲವಾಗಿ ಹಲವಾರು ವರ್ಷಗಳೇ ಕಳೆದವು.

ಇಂದು ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸಮಯ ಕಳೆದು ದರ್ಶನವೂ ಆಗಿ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿದೆವು.

SALEKERI FESTIVAL (HABBA) 16/2/2022

Salekeri, Brahmavara, Udupi Taluk.

Every year Sri DurgaParamenshwari Veerabhadra Temple Festival happens in the month of February.

In those days, when my father was priest at the temple, it was two day event. 

My father, Venkatramana Somayaji was Temple Archaka for more than 50 years, and when I was young, I used to escort my father on special ocassions.

Particularly on Festival day thousands of devotees come to temple and breaking coconuts was part of my task. At the end of day, I also used to help my father for counting coins received.

The temple has seen renovation and moderation over the years, devotees all over state,some entreprenuers,  earning good salaries, and good position.

This year was special, as they are having Brahma Kalasha and Ashta Bhanda for the Deity.

On 16th Feb. there was Chandika Homa, and Grand oota for lunch and in the in the eveining, procession of Deity in Pallaki up to BadaSalekeri, with seva , pomp and paegentry.

The community is mostly of weavers, burning of oilsoaked towel is auspicious seva.

On the 17th Feb. there is also Rathotsava, and lot of shops arrive as people gather, and Festival atmosphere.
