 Saturday, July 25, 2026

From WhatsApp

SHOBHA SOMAYAJI

 June 28, 2026

TEN THINGS A HINDU CAN DO

 Monday, June 15, 2026

WhatsApp forwarded

Ten Things a Hindu can do While using English Language: - written by Francois Gautier (check his Facebook page. He knows more Hinduism than many of us)

# 01.

Please stop using the term "God fearing" - Hindus never ever fear God. For us, God is everywhere and we are also part of God. God is not a separate entity to fear.

It is integral.

# 02.

Please do not use the meaningless term "RIP" when someone dies. Use "Om Shanti", "Sadhgati" or "I wish this atma attains moksha/sadhgati /Uthama lokas".  Hinduism neither has the concept of "soul" nor its "resting". The terms "Atma" and "Jeeva" are, in a way, antonyms for the word "soul".(to be understood in detail)

# 03.

Please don't use the word "Mythology" for our historic epics (Ithihaas) Ramayana and Mahabharata.  Rama and Krishna are historical heroes, not just mythical characters.

# 04.

Please don't be apologetic about idol worship and say “Oh, that's just symbolic". All religions have idolatry in kinds or forms - cross, words, letters (calligraphy) or direction.

Also let's stop using the words the words 'idols', 'statues' or 'images' when we refer to the sculptures of our Gods.

Use the terms 'Moorthi' or 'Vigraha'. If words like Karma, Yoga, Guru and Mantra can be in the mainstream, why not Moorthi or Vigraha?

# 04.

Please don't refer to Ganesh and Hanuman as "Elephant god" and "Monkey god" respectively. You can simply write Shree Ganesh and Shree Hanuman.

# 05.

Please don't refer to our temples as prayer halls. Temples are "devalaya" (abode of god) and not "prarthanalaya" (Prayer halls).

# 06.

Please don't wish your children "black birthday" by allowing  them to blow off the candles that are kept on top of the birthday cake. Don't throw spit on the divine fire (Agni Deva). Instead, ask them to pray: "Oh divine fire, lead me from darkness to light" (Thamasoma Jyotirgamaya) by lighting a lamp. These are all strong images that go deep into the psyche.

# 07.

Please avoid using the words "spirituality" and "materialistic". For a Hindu, everything is divine. The words spirituality and materialism came to India through evangelists and Europeans who had a concept of Church vs State. Or Science vs Religion. On the contrary, in India, Sages were scientists and the foundation stone of Sanatan Dharma was Science.

# 09.

Please don't use the word "Sin" instead of "Paapa". We only have Dharma (duty, righteousness, responsibility and privilege) and Adharma (when dharma is not followed).  Dharma has nothing to do with social or religious morality. 'Paapa' derives from Adharma.

# 10.

Please don't use loose translation like meditation for "dhyana" and 'breathing exercise' for "Pranayama". It conveys wrong meanings. Use the original words.

Remember,  the world respects only those who respect themselves!

Please pass it on so that people can understand about Hindu Dharma..

CONFUCIOUS -GREAT PHILOSOPHER

 Saturday, June 6, 2026

Confucius is best known as the founder of Confucianism, an ethical and philosophical system that shaped Chinese civilization for over two millennia. His teachings focused on moral character, family loyalty, respect for elders (filial piety), social harmony, and the importance of education.

*Confucius once warned:* living too closely with your adult children in old age can, paradoxically, push them away.
This story is more than 2,500 years old—yet it feels like it was written for today. For us. For our parents. For our children.
It tells of an elderly man named Li Wei, who went to the great philosopher Confucius with a question that troubles many older adults:
“Why is it that after dedicating our entire lives to our children… we end up feeling alone in old age?”
The Cup That Never Feels Full
Li Wei wasn’t a bad father. Quite the opposite—he gave everything to his children. He worked tirelessly so they would never lack anything. He sacrificed his own comfort so they could have a better life.
When they grew up, started families of their own, and built independent lives, Li Wei thought it was finally time to enjoy the rewards. He sold his home and moved in with his son—surrounded by family, grandchildren, and what he believed would be warmth and connection.
But the happiness he expected never came.
The house was full… yet his heart felt empty.
During the day, everyone was busy. In the evenings, they came home exhausted, craving quiet. They listened to him half-heartedly. His advice irritated them. His presence became something taken for granted.
The closer he tried to be… the more distant they became.
Searching for Answers
Li Wei went to Confucius and shared his pain:
“Master, I devoted my life to my children. I thought that living close to them in my later years would bring me peace and love. But instead, I feel invisible… Why?
Confucius didn’t comfort him with empty words. Instead, he offered three simple lessons.
*First Lesson: The Vase of Water*
The sage filled a vase to the brim.
“Tell me,” he asked, “what happens if I pour more water in?”
“It will overflow,” Li Wei replied.
“Exactly,” said Confucius. “So it is with relationships. When we try to force ourselves into a space that is already full, imbalance follows. You built a home for your children to grow—but now you’re trying to become its center again. Their home already has a center—their own lives, their own children. You’re trying to pour yourself into a vessel that has no room left.”
*Second Lesson: The Two Trees*
Confucius pointed to two trees growing too close together. Their branches tangled as they competed for sunlight.
“What happens when trees grow too close?” he asked.
“They interfere with each other. They compete,” Li Wei answered.
“Do they grow stronger?”
“No… they become weak and misshapen.”
“So it is in life,” said the sage. “We think closeness always means unity. But too much closeness creates tension. Growth requires space.”
*Third Lesson: A Handful of Sand*
Confucius scooped up sand and clenched his fist tightly.
“What happens if I hold it like this?”
It slips through your fingers,” Li Wei said.
“Just like human relationships,” Confucius replied. “Love and respect cannot grow under pressure. The tighter you hold, the more you demand closeness—the faster it disappears. Give freedom, and what truly belongs with you will remain.”
*The Most Important Realization*
“When you plant a tree,” Confucius asked, “do you expect it to give you shade in your old age?”
“No, Master. I plant it so it can grow. The shade is a gift, not an obligation.”
“Then why expect your children to be different? You raised them not for yourself—but for the world. And the world has just as much claim on them as you do.”
For the first time, Li Wei understood.
The Wisdom of Growing Older
Confucius handed him a small pouch of seeds.
“You can still plant. You can still teach. You can still learn. Old age is not a time for waiting—it’s a time for new beginnings. Don’t wait for love from your children. Start doing what you love.”
Li Wei returned to his hometown—but not to live with his son. Instead, he rented a small house near a school and began helping children. He shared his knowledge, taught what he knew, planted trees with them, told stories… and simply showed up.
Before long, everyone began calling him Master Li.
The less he imposed himself, the more he was appreciated.
The less he demanded attention, the more sincerely it was given.
When Love Returns
One day, he received a letter from his son:
“Dad, it’s been too long. We miss you. The kids keep asking about you. Come visit—not to stay, just to be with us.”
When Li Wei arrived, he was welcomed warmly.
For the first time in years, he felt like a wanted guest—not a burden.
And then he understood:
When he stopped expecting love… it found its way back to him.
*What This Story Really Means*
Living with your children in old age is a mistake” is not a call to isolation.
It’s a reminder that true closeness is born from freedom—not obligation.
When we demand presence, we suffocate it.
When we impose ourselves, we become invisible.
When we let go, we are chosen.
*As Confucius taught:*
Love and respect can’t be demanded.
They can only be nurtured.

Celebrating of ages 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100

Someone once asked me:

“Why do we celebrate ages like 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 so grandly?

Are these numbers spiritual, or are they just cultural traditions?”

The answer lies in a powerful story from the Mahabharata—the story of King Yayati.

Yayati lived life to the fullest—power, pleasures, success, everything. But when old age suddenly arrived, it shook him deeply. After deep reflection, he realized a profound truth:

“Pleasure has limits, but desire never ends.”

This single realization transformed his life. He accepted old age and explained that life has five inner turning points—not based on age, but on understanding.

Remarkably, these five turning points align with the traditional Indian milestones of 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 years. Let us understand them in simple terms.

60 – Shashti (Shastabdi)

The mind shifts from accumulation to understanding

Around 60, something changes—not in the body, but in priorities.

The question “How much more can I get?” slowly fades, and

“What truly matters now?” takes its place.

Introspection begins.

Noise, applause, and external validation are no longer needed.

Clarity is what one seeks.

This is not decline—it is maturity catching up with ambition.

70 – Bheemaratha Shanthi

Peace feels more powerful than proving a point

In the 40s and 50s, we explain ourselves to the world.

At 70, a quiet shift occurs.

You no longer react instantly.

Arguments lose their attraction.

Preserving relationships matters more than winning debates.

One realizes:

Being peaceful is more valuable than being right.

That is why the 70th year is celebrated.

80 – Sathabhishekam (Sahasra Chandra Darshana)

Your presence itself becomes healing

At 80, people don’t come seeking advice.

They come seeking something deeper—

the reassurance that life can be lived, processed, and understood.

At this age, your presence becomes a blessing.

Words are no longer necessary.

Your very being says:

“Everything was okay. Life finds its way.”

That is why 80 is considered sacred.

90 – Navathi

The ego quietly retires

At 90, something rare happens.

You no longer feel the urge to correct people.

You don’t cling to opinions.

Things are not taken personally.

You are not easily hurt.

Not because of weakness—

but because life has already shown you enough.

Petty matters no longer deserve your energy.

A gentle stillness settles in.

This humility is true spirituality.

100 – Shatamanam

Life moves beyond personal stories

Reaching 100 is not just about the number of years.

It is a state where the larger picture becomes visible.

You realize that many of the worries you carried were unnecessary.

The love you gave was what truly mattered.

And life was always being held by a mysterious, compassionate force.

At 100, a person becomes less of an individual

and more of a presence.

Essence

Our sages did not celebrate age.

They celebrated the inner transformation that comes with age.

* 60 – Priorities shift

* 70 – Peace becomes strength

* 80 – Presence becomes healing

* 90 – Ego dissolves quietly

* 100 – Life reaches completion

Age is not deterioration.

Age is a filtration process—

through which wisdom, gentleness, and grace remain.

Thought for the Day

Growing older does not mean life is reducing;

it means life is becoming purer, wiser, and gentler.👍🏻

SUPREME COURT OF INDIA

 20th September 2025

Two days ago, BJP MP Dr. Nishikant Dubey made a serious accusation in the Supreme Court, stating:

> “If anyone in this country is responsible for inciting religious violence, it would be the Supreme Court and its judges!”

His statement caused a major controversy, and opposition parties strongly criticized him. However, well-known scientist, writer, and speaker Anand Ranganathan released a video statement, fully supporting Dubey. In fluent English, Ranganathan posed 9 powerful questions to the Supreme Court. These questions are very important. Below is a brief summary in Hindi which has now been translated into English for everyone to understand clearly:

Anand Ranganathan’s 9 Questions to the Supreme Court:

1. Double Standards on Kashmir Issues: The Supreme Court quickly took up petitions from opposition parties against the removal of Article 370, which had given special status to Jammu and Kashmir. But when petitions were filed regarding the 1990s atrocities against Kashmiri Hindus—such as forced displacement, home takeovers, destruction of temples, murders, rapes, and mass exodus—they were rejected by the Court saying, “It happened too long ago.” Is this not double standards?Doesn’t this create anger among Hindus? Is this not what leads to religious conflict?

2. Silence on Waqf Board’s Misuse: The Supreme Court is now worried about Waqf Board reforms. But in the last 30 years, the Waqf Board has illegally seized property, avoided taxes, and operated a parallel judicial system—yet the Court remained silent. If reforms are seen as a threat to Islam, then how was building mosques and dargahs on Hindu lands acceptable?Over 2 million Hindu properties were seized by the Waqf Board. The Supreme Court stayed silent. If this is not religious bias, what is?

3. Temple Funds Used Elsewhere, Hindus Restricted: Hindu temples are controlled by the government. Their income is used for madrassas, Haj pilgrimages, Waqf Boards, iftar feasts, and loans. But Hindu religious activities face restrictions. Petitions related to Hindu rights are often dismissed. Minorities are always given special priority. Is this fair? Or is this a way to provoke Hindu anger?

4. Education Discrimination Against Hindus: Under the Right to Education Act, Hindu schools must reserve 25% seats for minorities. But Muslim and Christian institutions are exempt from this rule. Thousands of Hindu schools had to close, and Hindu children now study in non-Hindu institutions. Isn’t this encouraging religious conversion? Why doesn’t the Supreme Court see this one-sided rule?

5. Free Speech Hypocrisy: When Hindus speak, it's called “hate speech.” When others speak, it is called “freedom of expression.” Nupur Sharma merely quoted from Hadith, and the Court called it hate speech. But when Stalin and other leaders called Sanatana Dharma a “disease,” the Court stayed silent. Is this justice?

6. Biased Ban on Hindu Traditions: The Supreme Court bans Hindu practices like Dussehra animal sacrifice. But no questions are raised about mass halal animal slaughter during Eid. During Janmashtami, Dahi Handi celebrations face height restrictions. But no action is taken against Muharram-related violence. Diwali crackers are called harmful to the environment, But Christmas fireworks face no criticism. Is this not discrimination?

7. Worship Places Act Blocks Hindu Restoration: The 1991 Places of Worship Act mandates that the religious character of places as of August 15, 1947, must not be changed. This law blocks Hindus from reclaiming ancient temples that were destroyed or converted. The Ram Mandir had to be fought for over many decades. Many other temples remain encroached. Is this not historical injustice?

8. Targeting Only Hindu Traditions: In the Sabarimala case, the Court hurt Hindu sentiments. Some Hindu temples follow male-only or female-only customs. But the Court only questioned Hindu traditions. In Islam, women cannot enter mosques or recite the Quran in certain settings. In Christianity, women cannot become priests. Why didn’t the Court question those religions?

9. Inaction During Anti-CAA Protests: During the Shaheen Bagh protests and the anti-CAA riots, the Supreme Court did not take firm action. Protesters blocked public roads, but the Court didn’t stop it. Isn’t this a mockery of the law? Didn’t this too increase Hindu anger?

This powerful message should reach everyone. That’s why it’s being shared here.
