MUSIC PROGRAM - SHRUTHI BHAT - CARNATIC CONCERT

SheshadriPuram PU College, NammaBengaluru.

Shruthi S  Bhat from Chennai, upcoming Carnatic Music artist has performed at SheshadriPuram College on 27th March.

The young music enthusiast traveling from place to place with her little child of 15 months, shows her love and dedication to music.


She has a good voice, and sings flawlessly at the stage even with the new accompanying musicians.



Though I can not recollect the raagas she rendered, the performance was very good.


I wish her all the best with more fame to her credit in the years to come.

BOOK RELEASE PROGRAM AT MYSURU

MultiMedia Research Center, Manasa Gangotri, University of Mysuru, Mysuru.

Manasa Gangotri, is the post Graduate College, where I spent two years of my M.Sc. Physics studies during the year 1968 - 1970. It was a pleasant experience and opportunity to visit the college to attend the program.

BOOK RELEASED
"Studies in Philosophy, Religion and Literature" written by Prof. Yamunacharya, father of our close friend and a well wisher, Mysore Govind Prasad, known for many years. Prof Yamunacharya passed away in 1971, his lecture, articles are compiled by the Prof. Yamunacharya Memorial Trust and published. The book release program was to pay tributes and respect to this great scholar in Philosophy, and literature.


The program started at 11.30 am with invocation and the dignitaries on stage Prof. Lakshmi TataCharya, a scholar, Prof Vishveshwarn, Veena exponent, GovindPrasad, (Prof. Yamunacharya's son), and the Head of Philosophy department, Prof.Venkatesh.

Prof TataCharya, an eminent scholar on Hindu Philosophy and Tamil Literature spoke highly about the book, Prof, Yamunacharya and it was very enlightening.

Prof. Vishweshvaran, also a proven musicologist, veena exponent, (Brother in law of GovindPrasad), spoke in length about religion, philosophy and about Prof Yamuncharya.

Mr. Govind Prasad, one out of eight offspring of Prof. Yamunacharya,  spoke very interestingly about his "Appa", as he has seen him. It was a nice tribute to his father, on the occasion of his book release.

We traveled to Mysuru by train in the morning, a comfortable journey and returned in the evening. Our close family friend from Mysuru, Usha,Suresh Cukkemane accompanied us to the program.

SEEMANTHA - ANNAPURNA PURUSH

They were happy to celebrate woman getting pregnant after few years of marriage.




They had Homa, Shanthi , Pooja and prayers for the welfare and well being of the family.

It was get-together for family, relations and friends.



That was om Sunday, 19th March 2018 at the apartment of Purushothama Somayaji, same family relation, married to Annapoorna, married 12 years ago.

She conceived now and soon will give birth to a healthy baby.

"Seemantha" is custom followed to decorate the lady and pray for her good health, of the would be mother and the baby.

There were about 100 people gathered for the celebration, some came from ooru (native place)

Grand lunch followed as usual.

KANNADA DRAMA - THAAYAVVA

Thaaayavva - a beautiful musical Kannada Drama was witnessed at RangaShankara, Bengaluru on 18th March 2018.

The highlight of the drama was the celebrity singer M D Pallavi, in the lead role as Thaayavva and Chintan Vikas also a good singer was on variety of supporting role. The singing was sooper with a mild background music.





Thaayavva, means mother,  is a widow of about 50 years, struggles to carry on with her life with her lonely son. She tries to deconstruct the modern system in her own way, She tries to reconcile the oppostes, haves to deconstruct themselves while constructing better life for the have nots.


While Gram Seva Sangh was struggling to construct these ideas, a new form of Sales Tax called GST was imposed om handmade products in India. The Indian economy that had already been beaten up took a further beating. Gram Seva Sangh raised its voice. Thaayavva is offshoot of this struggle.

KALAVIDARU

M D PALLAVI
Thaayavva, widow, a selfish mother and not selfish in a sense. It's sense of protecting a pogeny. Her son becomes an activist in the cause of homemade products. She tries to protect him. She dies in a police shooting. The mother becomes an activist. She is both metaphor and a meaning.


The play is musical and a celebration. She celebrates joy of deconstruction as opposed to destruction. She deeonstructs even God. God, for her, is a labouring and hardworking metaphor.

SVAPNA SARASWATHA" BOOK REVIEW

Shivarama Karantha Vedike, R T Nagara, organized program for the month of March 2018, with review and dialogue (Samvaada) on Sunday 11th March at 4 pm.



The program happens only because of Pa. ChandraShekhara Chadaga, who is the secretary and a strong fan of Kota Shivarama Karanth.




The program was review and introduce the novel written by Shri GopalaKrishna Pai, some years ago.

Dr S R VijayaShankar, very good speaker and a well read person was there give his opinion on the book, in the presence of the author, Shri GopalaKrishna Pai.

He highlights about the book with the migration of poeple originally from Russia, then to Goa and along the coastal area, community called "GowdaSaraswatha". They speak language called "Konkani", and have progressed in all fields of the society , may be it is Banking, health, Education or other Entreprenuership. The explains about the their culture, belief, difficulties and much more.

Dr Shashikala, Kannad Professor at Bengaluru University and a critic also spoke very effectively about the book.

Earlier, P ChandraShekhara Chadaga, welcomed and introduced the guest.

Ms Indira Sharan proposed the vote of thanks.

HOMA, POOJA at Dr Thavamani

Dr Tavamani Pannerselvam was a Medical Officer at Our Own High School, Al Warqa, when I was Supervisor at the same school, working.

She left the school in 2013, and has a medical Centre at Sharjah, which is taken care by her son and daughter-in-law.

She frequently visits Sharjah and when in Bengaluru, she  does lot of social work, health awareness program and actively involved in Wellness of people.



She is also disciple of ISKCON, "Hare Krishn Movement" and organized pooja and homa at her residence every year.

She gave the  invite to us to attend the program at her house, which was conducted by Radhe Shyam Das, former priest from ISKCON. His methods were very systematic, material used for fire, Mangalaarathi, and pravachana was unique. It is also involvement of everybody present in the program, and prayers to attain divinity.



Pooja went on till 1.45 pm after which there was Prasada, with sumptuous meal for everybody.

It was a very effective homa and pooja for all attended. GodBless Dr Thavamani and her Family.

WEDDING - SHASHANK & APEKSHA

March 4 -5, 2018
G N R Kalyana Mantapa, Jayanagara, Bengaluru.


Shashank Somayaji is the son of Subramanya Somayaji, grandson of Subbanna Somayaji, who is my father's elder brother. It is wedding of third generation, which took place in Bengaluru.

Subramanya and his father, Umanatha Somayaji lived in Sringeri.



Wedding celebrations were grand with Varapooje on 3rd March evening at the same venue and a get-together and party. Sumptuous dinner followed.




Next morning, we left from home early to reach the venue by 7.30 am and the wedding muhurthum was at 8.30 am. After exchanging of garlands, rest of marriage procedures followed. For others, it was time for meeting lost contacts, networking and catching up the old acquaintances and relations.
Grand lunch followed, as usual in such occasion.


Evening, after 7 pm, it was time for reception, many attended wishing the newly wedded couple and enjoyed the dinner.

The next day, 5th March, it was time for SatyaNarayana Pooja and Paaraayana at Subramanya's house near Seetha circle and grand lunch followed.

It was three day celebrations went on smoothly with everybody's blessings.
