It was last week that we went to ooru....... to attend some functions...... When we were coming back we carried a big jack fruit (halasina hannu), not very ripe ........
After a week, the fruit was giving good smell (parimala) in the room....... and Nalini said , it must be ripe.......
So, with all the devices required to do the operation, (cutting the fruit) we sat on the table with newspaper, knife, oil etc and the fruit was made into two halves.
It requires tremondous skill to cut the the fruit in to sizable pieces so that you can remove the real eatable fruit......
So the process started and it really took some time to remove the "sole" (yellow part inside).......
and the seeds should be separtely put inside a bowl.
When half the size of the fruit was removed, we thought it was enough for today...... part of it was eaten as raw fruit and remaining used for making "Halasina hannina Idli" (Mom is expert in preparing the dish)...
Don't be jealous if I am enjoying the fruit......
