YAKSHAGANA - THRI JANMA MOKSHA

Sunday, 9th Dec. 2018
ShirdiSai Mandira, R T Nagara, Bengaluru.

Yakshagana is stage /field dance drama or ballet style which is a popular entertainment in coastal Karnataka. There are numerous efforts to popularize this performing art form to other parts of Karnataka , India and abroad.
During my childhood days, used to go venue of yakshagana and sit for the whole night to watch the show and come back only in the morning.

A troupe from Kamalashile, abode of Brahmi DurgaParameshwari Temple,  place near Kunadapura, planned for a week long free program in Bangaluru, with the help of sponsors. Sri Krishna Prasad Panjimogaru is the convener, Yakshagana enthusiast, takes keen interest in making all the arrangements.

Today's story from the epic, is THRI JANMA MOKSHA, (called prasanga) is about Jaya-Vijaya, who were security people for Lord SrimaNarayana. They were rude and arrogant to ShukaMuni, the priest and others who came to visit. They were offended and cursed JayaVijaya to reborn as wicked people on earth.

Lord listened their case and gives them option for three re-births (Thri Janma) as Danavas (wicked people ) on earth.

They will born as Hiranyaksha, Hiranya Kashipu both were killed due their hatred towards Hari.
Prahlada born to HiryaKashipu, always prays for Hari which could not be tolerated by his father and eventually HiranyaKashipu was killed by Lord in the form of Ugra Narasimha.

STAGE PROGRAM HONOURING THE ARTIST

They presentation of the story was amazing, with heavy costume, clear dialogue for telling story, dance to the tune of singing by Bhagavataru, accompanied by Mridanga and Chande, An outstanding Bhagavatru with a very powerful voice was Ravindra Shetty Hosangadi.

As show was continuing after 4 hours, we decided to quit and left the place.
