JANUARY 14, 2014
Ramadevara Betta (Hill) is a Hindu shrine rising more than 3000 feet. Lord Ram is said to have visited here during his 14 years exile. There is a Ram temple at the top of the hill. It will give you an awesome feeling as you approach the hill. It is here the 1975 super hit movie Sholay was shot. This betta is in Ramanagara.
The town Ramanagara is about 60 Km from Bengaluru and we (me, nalini, Ravi, Vidya and Rishi) decided to go for the trip, trek and climbing expedition on Sunday, January 4, 2014,
Left Bhuvaneshwari Nagara, Hebbal, Bangalore at 9am and after having breakfast in one many vegetarian hotels on the way, reached the foot of the hill (about 3 km from the main road)at 11.30am
The hill (Betta) has about 300 nicely laid steps to climb and trees and shrubs on the way. After about 250 steps climb, there is Ramadevara temple, with archak who will do the aarthi to Lord Rama, specially for you.
There are nice resting places with beautiful view around.
Still climbing up to a place with a small ladder and steps on the steep rock to reach a high place and a bit risky too. However, climbers who enjoy, it's an awesome place.
Then there also another difficult place with with narrow path and lot of thorny plants, It's very risky and one has to be careful to go on the trek along this path. However, Mom, ravi and rishi made it.
Rest is the climbing down, apparently will not take much time.
Next was the popular place to have food .... KAMAT'S LOKA RUCHI.....on the main road to Mysore....
It was nice and pleasant, enjoyable trip.
