Deepavali is festival of lights celebrated every year in the month of October-November. It is celebrated the day before, Amavasye (new moon day) as Naraka Chaturdasi, (Victory over Narakasura), Bali Padyami. the first day kartik maasa(month) The entire house is cleaned, and new clothes are purchased for entire family. The thirteenth day is celebrated as "Neeru Tumbo Habba" (ನೀರು ತುಂಬೋ ಹಬ್ಬ ) where vessels are washed, bedecked and filled with fresh water. The next day, early morning, Aarti in front of God, oil for hair and the full body for all members of the family and hot water bath.

The tradition is all members of the family gather together for celebrations. After early morning Deepavali bath
(ದೀಪಾವಳಿ ಸ್ನಾನ ), wear new clothes, lighting oil lamps around the house, burst crackers .
Ravi, Vidya came early in the morning to join the celebrations. After oil bath, lighting lamps, crackers were not burst to reduce environmental pollution. We had nice breakfast prepared by mom.

We went to Sridhar Bidarahalli's (Vidya's Dad) house in Uttarahalli in Bengaluru for lunch get-together. Evening visited Shubha's house and returned to BirthiMane for lighting the lamps.

The next day was Lakshmi Pooja, where Mom spent time with floral decoration with rangoli and lighted number of oil lamps.

Children from Somayaji Learning Centre also visited to see the rangoli and light decoration.

It was a pleasant and HAPPY DEEPAVALI for all.
