Shivarama Karantha Vedike, R T Nagara, NammaBengaluru, inaugurated it SilverJubilee Celebrations and as part of its first program, organized YAKSHAGAANA, by reputed artists and Suvarna Prasadhana Yaksharanga members at TaralaBalu Centre in the evening.

The story from Mahabhaaratha was composed by Dr. R R Pangal and songs by Sri Sridhar D S.

On Bhooloka, Nahusha Chakravarthy, due to his good deeds in his Kingdom,

Once there was a powerful Demon by name Vritasura. Indra killed him after pretending to be his friend, but he was unhappy as committed a sin, and relinquished his throne and went away,

BHEEMA
Indra, the king of the Devas, relinquished his throne and his kingdom and went away. He hid himself so that the other Devas would not be able to find him and make him come back.

Devas go to Nahusha King and requests him to ascend the throne vacated by Indra. Reluctantly he agrees and goes to IndraLoka and takes charge.

Nahusha was attracted by Indra's wife, SachiDevi and wanted to acquire her. First she protested but later she put a condition that he should come in a palanquin, carried by Bruhaspathi and other sages. Sages while going slow, Nahusha being arrogant kicks Agasthya sage. The sage gets angry and curses him to be born as a snake in a jungle in Bhooloka until he realizes his mistake. King Nahusha bows to Agasthya Sage, The great King falls on earth as Python.

Many years later, Pandavas came to jungle and Nahusha catches Bheema. In order to free his brother,  Dharmaraya comes to the serpent the rules of being a good King, after learning these, the serpent released Bheema and Nahusha becomes the old self, without arrogance and pride.

The presentation of Dance Drama, Yakshagaana was superb, the artists very enthusiastic, full of energy, dialogues, dance, humour were very good.

The Bhagavataru, accompanied by Mridanga and Chande (Himmela) did a wonderful job.
