The movie 'PADMAVAT" is Film maker Sanjay Leela Bansali's version of Rajpoot Queen Padmavathi of 14th century.
The film raised lot of controversy in the north, as it hurt the Rajput setiments, but eventually Indian Supreme Court declared that there isn't anything to ban the movie as such.
Raja Ratan Sen, Rajput Ruler Chittot Fort marries beautiful princess from Srilanka, Padmavat, in 13th Century. Alauddin Khilji, Sultan of Delhi, also heard of beauty of Padmavat, laid a siege to Chittor Fort to obtain her.Many events took place during the period of siege, till the fort was finally taken.
Ratan Sen was killed on a duel with Alauddin Khilji, but by the arrows shot by the followers of Khilji. Before he could capture Chittor, Padmavati and her companions committed Jauhar (Self-immolation) to protect their honour. After her sacrifice. Rajput men died fighting on the battlefield.
The movie is typical of Sanjay Lella Bansali's affluent settings, costume's of characters in the film.
War scenes are simply fantastic, Deepikae Padukone acted as Padmavat was majestic , graceful and perfect to the characters. Shahid kapoor as Ratan Sen and Ranver Singh as Alauddin Khilji acted superbly. The movie is a box office hit.
