Shivarama Karantha Vedike began its activities in the year 1993 by the initiative of Sri Pa Chandrashekara Chadaga and other fans of Jnana Peetha award winner Dr Kota Shivarama Karantha. The Vedike organizes regular programs encouraging Kannada Literature, Yakshagana, Drama, Music etc.
It organized Inauguration Program of Silver Jubilee year 2018, with Sri Chiranjeevi Singh as Chief Guest at the premises of Library of TaralaBalu Centre on Sunday at 10am, followed by guest lecture and Felicitation Program.

The program began with lighting the lamp by the dignitaries and Sri Chiranjeevi Singh inaugurated the Silver Jubilee year in Kannada, remembering the time he spent with Dr Shivarama Karantha and praising all the people who are running the Vedike programs for last 25years.

Dr. R Poornima, Journalist and Saahiti (Literary person) in her guest lecture spoke of Sr Gopalakrishna Adigas poems and literary work and his vision of Kannada Literature and poetry.

Sri. B V Kedilaya, current President and Senior Critic, was honoured with peta, shawl, garland and fruit basket.

Sri P ChandraShekara Chadaga, hardcore Abhimaani (Fan)of Dr Shivarama Karantha Vedike, for his continuous dedicated service, was honoured.

Sri B V Kedilaya, a good speaker enumerated his life and his literary work, his association with GopalaKrishna Adiga and Shivarama Karantha and thanked the Shivarama Karantha Vedike for honouring him. As he passed 80 years, his health issues not make him to actively participate in the further programs.

Sri P ChandraShekhara Chadaga also in his reply, thanked the committee for the honour and said that only his love and affection of Dr Kota Shivarama Karantha made him spend his time on Vedike activities for last 25 years.
Program concluded with vote of thanks by Sri VeeraShekhara Swamy, followed by lunch.
Silver Jubilee program continued after lunch with Beluru RamaMurthy with "Haasyopanyasa" and lecture by Sri Sridhar Bhat YakshaGaana "Yesterday and Today"
In the evening at 5pm, there was 'YAKSHAGAANA" by Suvarna Prasadhana YakshaRanga artists and others distinguished guest artists. The story line of the presentation was 'NAHUSHA MOKSHA" (See a separate blog)
