Upanayana (Sacred Thread Ceremony) or Brahmopadesha, is essentially an initiation ritual that marks the transition of a child from infantile stage of play to the serious stage of study and Sadhana.
The Upanayana Sanskara typically takes place around the eighth year of a child's life. However, it is performed as late as twelve.
The grandson of Subraya Hebbar, Sujan was initiated into the ritual of Brahmopadesha. He is the son of Manjula and Gururaj, living in GiriNagara, Bengaluru and is a distant relative.
Large number of relatives and friends were invited to this auspicious function. After the ritual of father putting sacred thread to the son, and whispering "Ganyathri Mantra" in ears, guests normally give "Bhiksha" in the form of cash or gifts and bless the child with good health and good education.
Grand feast usually follows such occasion with number of variety of items for the grand lunch.
