Saturday, 30th November 2019
SaiNagara, Hubballi

That evening we went to visit this 900 - year old temple built during Chalukyan Era, on the banks of Unkal Lake, in Hubballi-Dharwad Road.

Lord Shiva is deity of the temple and marvelous sculptures, preserved by Archaeological Survey of India, as it has archaeological importance.

The temple has two big ShivaLingas and two Nandi. One is Chaturmukh Linga which is four faced ShivaLinga and has four doors. The temple has unfinished architecture, most marvelous and spectacular architecture by Chalukyas. It is filled with finished and unfinished artistic carvings which are exemplary work of art. The walls and doors adorn designs of Chalukyan Architecture.

The temple is now surrounded by local inhabitants and the access is difficult. No proper roads, parking facility and the visitors find it hard to reach the place.

The department of tourism can upgrade the infrastructure to attract more visitors.
