EMPIRE STATE BUILDING: DAY 12

Waiting for the bus
After breakfast from Kedilaya's house, we left 8.30am by local bus Q-17 to Flushing subway station. From there again we were on No, 7 train to 42nd street, Time square and reached there by 10 am.

We walked along the streets of Manhattan to reach Empire State building.
We stood in a long line of tourists who were also there to on top of the building.

The Empire State Building is a 103-story skyscraper located in Midtown ManhattanNew York City, at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street.

It has a roof height of 1,250 feet (380 m), and with its antenna spire included, it stands a total of 1,454 feet (443 m) high Its name is derived from the nickname for New York, the Empire State.

It stood as the world's tallest building for nearly 40 years, from its completion in early 1931 until the topping out of the original World Trade Center's North Tower.
It took about one hour in line to reach the lift to go to 80th floor and from there another lift to go to 86th floor. There were many people from all nationalities and we went round in the viewing gallery to see the full view of Manhattan.
Cathedral
The tall buildings were looking small. After about half hour, w got into the lifts and came back to street level.
We waited for Hop on and Hop off bus to take downtown tour and reached Time Square.
UN Building
It's about 4 pm and again we got into another hop on hop off bus for UPTOWN tour.
We sat in the bus for about two hours saw all the attractions like Lincoln Centre,  Cathedral of St. John, the Devine, Central Park and zoo, American Museum of Natural History and returned to Time Square by 6.30pm.

We sat in the square for sometime with all the glittering lights, huge LCD screens displaying news, advertisement, movies and cartoons.
Back to subway and on train No.7, reach Flushing by 8pm and from there bus to queens.
Mr B P Kedilaya was concerned and waiting on the street wondering why we were so late.
However, we reached his house, had good dinner and general discussion and off to bed.
