T Narasipura ( Tirumakoodalu Narsipura)

at KOODALA SANGAMA, T NARASIPURA

After seeing the architecture and sculptures at Somanathpura Chennakeshava Temple, we proceeded to T Narasipura, a short distance of 20km on a good road.
This is a very religious place it is surrounded by Astadala Parvats and at the confluence of the three rivers Cauvery, Kapila and Gupthagamini Spatika Sarovara is called Triveni sangama spot.The pace was also called as Trimakoota in the past. It is also a very renounced pilgrimage center, sanctified by sage Agasthya. There is a famous Agastheswara Temple here. This Kshetra(sacred place) is also mentioned in the Skanda Purana also.

Vyasaraya Mutt in TNarasipura

There is also a Vyasaraya Mutt which has eight mruthika Brindavans and one Mula Brindavan of Sri Raghunatha Thirtha.

Gunja Narsimha Swamy Temple


 This temple is on the other bank of River Kapila and Cauvery.The Temple is built in Dravidian Style with a large structure and a high gopura with four pillared mantap. Lord Narsimha holds in his right hand a berry stalk of Gunja plant between his thumb and forefinger. Every year the ” Car Festival of Gunja Narasimha Swamy ” is celebrated with pomp and show.

 After having lunch at the temple, we proceeded to Mysore, a distance of 35 km.
