It's end of the year. Time for Christmas and New Year break for school..... Decided to make a week long trip to OORU (native place).... Birthi, Salekeri, Brahmavar, Udupi and around........

Charmadi Ghats

Day 1: Friday Dec 26, 2014, Left BirthiMane Bengaluru at 7.30 am with Prof. Udaya Kumar in his car, after breakfast at home. Passed through Hassan, Belur, Chikkamagaluru and then Mudigere. Went through Scenic Charmadi Ghats, winding roads, enjoying the beauty of nature. Had lunch at Ujire, reached Udupi, Udyavara at 5pm , took Sujatha's Alto car for local running and reached Birthi at 7pm

Day 2: Saturday,27th Dec 2014 Visited Kameshwara and Purohit Mahabaleshwara Adiga, returned performed pooja at home. After breakfast, got ready for PANCHA DURGA HOMA, planned by Leela Attige and her daughter Shobha Somayaji. Mangalarathi, grand lunch followed, about 80 people present for oota. Catering was ordered and evryone enjoyed sumptuous lunch.
Evening SANGEETHA MAALIKE -10 music program in memory of Late Srikanth Somayaji, organized by Abhilasha. Instrumental music and hindustani vocal singing was up to 7pm.

Day 3: Sunday, 28th December 2014: Morning after breakfast, Rishi and Vijetha (Bikar Boys) left for Bengaluru in their Bullet and Prof. Udaya Kumar, Shaila and children also left for Bengaluru in their car. Mom, Ravi and myself, left for Puttige Vaudeva Bhat's (Owner Venus Group of hotels, Dubai) SHASHTABDI celebrations at Raghavendra Mutt,  Bannadka, near Moodabidri.  After grand lunch, left by 2.00pm, visited Krishnamoorthy Adiga at Kukkanduru, near Karkala and reached Birthi by 4.30pm. Evening went out with Ravi Somayaji and Harsha and later Ravi Somayaji was dropped at Brahmavar, to travel to Bengaluru.

Wedding at Saharada Kalyana Mantapa, Udupi

Day 4: Monday, 29th Dec. 2014.... Attended wedding at Sharada Kalyana Mantapa, Udupi. Umashankar Kadambar's wife's brother wedding. Usual Maduve Grand lunch, after which went to SANJEEVANA YOGADHAMA  at Manipal for consultation with Prabhakara Upadhya for Sciatica pain. Did yoga exercise for an hour and went for visit Vishala-Keshava Bhat, near Manipal. Also Visited Krishnamoorthy Bhat at Mayagundi and returned home by 8.30pm

Day 5: Tuesday, 30th Dec.2014... Left home by 10am for a visit to Kateel DurgaParameshwari Temple. Met Dayananda Hebbar at Kinnigoli on the way and reached the temple by 12.30pm. After darshan, waited for lunch at the temple and left by 2.30pm. Visited Shubha Ramesh and Padakannayas at Landlinks, Konchadi, Mangaluru.  Returned home by 7.30pm

Happy New Year at Munduje, Hiriadaka

Day 6: Wednesday 31st Dec.2014 : Morning 6.30am, went to Manipal for Yoga exercise and returned home. Attended Vaikunta Samaradhane and Shrddhanjali function for Late Prof. K. R. Hande (former Headmaster of SMS High School, Brahmavar, when I was a student). After grand lunch, went to udyavara and had a good sleep.
Went for some shopping at Jayalaxmi at Udyavara, bought s New Year Cake and miscellaneosu stuff at Udupi and reached Udaya Achar house at Munduje, near Hiriadaka by 9pm.  After dinner Welcome 2015 celebrations, with Shubha-Raghu, Lahari, Ramakrishna Achar and family and some more people. New Year Cake was cut at 12.00 midnight and small game followed. People disbursed and retired after 1.00am.

 Day 7: Thursday 1st Jan. 2015... Left from Munduje, Hiriadaka and reached Birthi by 10am, bath, pooja. After Lunch slept for sometime. Evening met Suares-Victoria family at Uppinakote and proceeded to Anegudde for visit to Ganapathi Temple. On the way back visited Sumangali Sudhakar Kandiga at Parampalli, Saligrama and returned home by 8.30pm

Day 8: Friday, 2nd Jan 2015: Went to Manipal at 6.30am for an hour's exercise at Yogadhama and returned. After bath and Pooja left for Pernankila for temple visit and lunch. returned by 2.30pm and left for a while. Evening visited Shri Krishna Mutt and Anatheshwara Temple at Udupi and returned to Udyavara. Visited Arundhathi Upadhya house , dinner at 8pm at Sujatha's house and left for Benagluru by Durgamba Multi-Axle bus by 9pm at Bale Paade, Udyavara, thus completing 8 days trip to OORU.
