SEEMANTHA is ceremony for pregnant woman, celebration for parents of the couple with relations, friends and well wishers.It's ancient ritual celbrated by pregnant woman's parents to take blessings from elders for safe delivery.




One such occasion was to celebrate UdayaChandra-Ratna daughter-in-law Sushma, pregnant lady.

Many relations and friends were invited and the function followed by grand lunch, with holige and Jelebi as sweets.




Socialization and meeting lost contacts also was one of the reasons, you meet people, inquire each other's welfare, how the family, children all doing etc etc..


After lunch everyone disperses to their homes.

GRUHA PRAVESHA - SHANAALI MANE

A grand house was built by Venkatesh Vailaya, distant relation of Nalini Somayaji and house warming took place on Wednesday/Thursday, 20/21st March 2019.




The house was named "SHAANALI MANE" , to maintain the flavor of native place, as Shaannali is the name of the native place Near Kenjoor in Udupi District.






Large number of relations, friends and well wishers attended the happy event and there was grand lunch as usual in such occasion.

D V GUNDAPPA (DVG) - TRIBUTE ON HIS BIRTHDAY

D V Gundappa, popularly known as DVG (1887 - 1975), is a prominent Kannada writer, poet and a thinker. He wrote poetry, plays, essays on philosophy religious and political subjects.




His famous MANKU THIMMANA KAGGA (Dull thimma's rigmorale), 945 four line poems on life, learning, events, morals etc....It is regarded as masterpiece of Kannada Literature and it is profound and poetic and can be sung.

Few fans of DVG organized an informal get-together to pay tribute to this great writer of Kannada at Bewgle Rock Park at BasvanaGudi, Bengaluru in the morning. There is a small statue of DVG and garlanding and flower tribute was done by the people present. Little children sang some poems and Sripad Rao Manjunath, a staunch fan of DVG, has in his memory, most of Kagga poems and rendered few of them.





People gathered were requested to go to Mr Venkatraman's House in JayaNagara for breakfast, where people sat and some spoke about their time spent with DVG.


There was also a nice breakfast and coffee, after which people dispersed.

SHASTABDI CELEBRATIONS - MURALIDHAR BHAT

The belief in the  presence of divine power is what keeps us going in spite of all adversities. Chandika Homa is one such ritual that help to gain control and and balance one's life by blessings of Goddess Chandika,  - fiercest manifestation of Goddess Durga.(Lakshmi, Parvathi & Saraswathi)


It is believed that it invokes positive feelings by eliminating negative energy.

One such occasion was organized by Muralidhar Bhat, brother of Ramachandra Bhat, husband of Vijaya, Nalini's sister. The venue was Vidyapeeta, where number of such events take place and cater for all the groups.


We were there to witness the event and take prasada and blessings and also enjoy grand lunch.

The feast following the pooja formalities had the usual on such occasion with with laddu and one more sweet.


After lunch with a short networking, it was time to disperse.

SHRADDHANJALI - PAAPUTTI (NAGARATHNA)

One of the old-timers in the extended family, Paaputti, (Nagaratna) daughter of father's brother, ShankaraNarayana Somayaji, passed away recently, felt very sad.

PAAPUTTI



She has been agile, active and interested in lot of things, family matters, relations, what they are doing, how they are doing etc etc....


She used to live with her son Vishwanatha, retired bank employee, at Sarakki Layout, near Banashankari, Bengaluru.

Her death came all of a sudden, as we met her with enthusiasm in a common function at Vidyapeeta and was inquiring about everyone.



It was God's Blessing for her to take her last breath at her son's house, in good health, which many people won't get.



Post death rituals are to be performed at Vaidika Mandira, Chamarajapete, Bengaluru, as per the schedule.

AKSHARABHYASA - SATYANARAYANA POOJA

Dr Ramesh Kumar (Kedilaya) is son of uncle Govind Kedilaya from Balekudru.


His daughter and son-in-law, living in Seattle, USA, had a baby boy, are on holidays and celebrating AKSHARABHYASA and SatyaNarayana Pooja, with relations and friends.

It was a grand function at Udupu Puttige Mutt at Bengaluru and there were more than hundred people, for celebrations and feast.



The grand lunch with many sweets, holige, Jahangir, and many more, with usual menu.


It was also time for socializing and catching up with lost contacts.
