UGADI 2012 was celebrated at Birthi Mane, Bengalooru, with family get-together. "KHANI'' was placed in the pooja room, which indicates ushering new year, as per solar calender. Placing of coconut, sauthe kai, fruit, and the image of God is seen in the mirror, first thing in the morning. Mango leaves placed on the doors, rangoli placed in front of the house after putting water.
There were about 25 people for lunch, family members..... doddappa, doddamma, Sadaram and family, Shyla & family, Shubha and family, Shivanna (Raghu's brother) & his family were there for grand lunch cooked by mom...... chitranna, anna saaru, beetroot sasive, majjige huli, koosumbrari, paayasa, holige and anna mosaru. ...... After lunch, Sadaram slept nicely..... doddappa's short nap, boys having good times, Lahari & Aditi playing on the terrace, and ladies chatting....... the usual......
The celebration of Ugadi is marked by religious zeal and social merriment. It is believed that the creator of the World, Lord Brahma started creation on this day - Chaitra suddha padhyami or the Ugadi day. It is said that out of a hundred of Brahma's 'years', fifty have already passed, and out the balance we are now at the fifty first year, first month, waxing phase, first day, thirteen hours, forty ghadiyas, three veesas and just over forty four viliptaka
las. In solar year terms, about 432,000 years are considered equivalent to half a day of Brahma!
It was beginning of NANDANA SAMVATSARA, celebrated first time in the new house in Bengaluru, and nice and pleasant get-together.
