It's Sunday, thought of going to movie with mom and Rishi at IMAX, Mantri Mall. Malleshwaram, Bangalore, night show.
After roaming around the mall for some time, finally landed up at the entrance on the fourth floor.
Movie, caught the attention, did not make me to sleep, was humorous, and Sridevi's acting was superb.
Hilarious, touching and sensitive, the film is directed by ad filmmaker Gauri Shinde who has done an impressive job as a first time director by bringing a message-driven film without being preachy.
'English Vinglish' is a light-hearted yet touching journey of Shashi, (Sridevi), who does not know English and is made to feel insecure by her family and society at large.
The film whets your appetite, thanks to Sridevi's flawless and seamless performance. She is brilliant in front of the camera.
Also featuring Adil Hussain, Priya Anand and French actor Mehdi Nebbou, 'English Vinglish' is co-produced by Sunil Lulla, R. Balki, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and R.K. Damani.
Delhi-based distributor Joginder Mahajan told us: "The movie is appreciated by media but it got a 5-10 percent opening in Delhi. It might pick up."
But Anant Verma, business head, DT Cinemas, is looking forward to make profits with Sridevi's comeback movie.
"It is Sridevi's comeback movie, therefore people have a lot of expectations from it. Audience has been looking forward to the movie ever since the trailers are out. All our shows have gone jam packed today. Overall DT Cinemas is incurring good business out of 'English Vinglish'."
