We were on their invitee list for attending the "Brahmopadesha" of their son Suprasada at the above venue. We proceeded to the place wished boy God's Blessings and Best wishes to the parents.
Brahmopadesh (Upanayana, Thead ceremony) is the rite of passage to the start of formal education, in those days of Gurukul system. It's an elaborate ceremony includes parents, relations and teacher. Durinf the ceremony, the boy receives sacred thread called "Yajnopaveetham", which he should wear all the times. He will also conveyed in the ears, sacred "Gayathri Mantra", which the boy repeats it every day few times during his prayer time (Japa)

In the present days, it is an elaborate ceremony, social status of the parents, inviting hundreds of people, relations, friends and well wishers, and arranging the function is huge KalyanaMantapa.
After wishing the "BrahmaChari" (Boy), with a small Bhiksha (token of offering), proceed to grand lunch. usual for such occasions with so many verity of items with 4 - 5 sweets.
