HOME VISITS AT UDUPI

Bharathi Krishnamoorthy Bhat, acquaintance from our Dubai years, now settled in Udupi in a nice house near Sharada Kalyana Mantapa.

Husband, Krishnamoorthy Bhat is still working in Saudi Arabia.

We were on our way to a Upanayana Get-together at Chitpady, so we dropped in for a short while at her house.

An active, smart lady, participates in temple activities, keeps her busy in social circles.

Srinivas Enclave, Chitpady, Udupi

It's Gowri Narasimha Achar's apartment.

Gowri is next wall neighbour, D/O Baikady Venkatakrishna Rao and Vasanthi.

In our younger days, Gowri's sisters, Kusuma and Sumathi. all used to play together.

We didn't visit them since they are staying in the apartment in Udupi.

After Upanayana at nearby Saraswathi Sabha Sadana,  we went to visit their home.

Her husband Narasimha Acharya, nice gentleman, retired LIC employee, is very active in his sports activities.

We had coffee and chatted for sometime and left from the place.

AAROOR, BELMANNU

Next, we went to visit Aaroor Chandrashekhara Rao, who is brother of Leela Somayaji, (Attige) wife of  B P Somayaji.

It's about 12 km from Udupi, the place surrounded by river, free only one side along the hill. During rainy season, the place used to have floods.

Chandru Mama, we used to call, 81 yrs old, retired after working at press at Manipal.

His wife, Vanitha, and three sons, Durgesh, Rajesh and ............ all married.

I slept for a while, had coffee and returned to Birthi via new road, through Kunjalu.

TEMPLE VISITS

 Thursday, 18th May 2023

It was the day for Temple visits around Brahmavar and Barkur.

Nalini's sisters Vijayalakshmi and Sujatha, were there.

1. Sri Batte Vinayaka Devaru.

Barkur is just 6 km from Birthi Salekeri, and our first stop was to have darshan of Ganesha, called Batte Vinayaka, we took thirtha prasada, namaskara and left.

2. Garake Matha Narasimha Devaru: 

About 10 Km from Bakur, towards Saibarkatte,

Garake Matha, residence cum temple with Narasimha Devaru. 

3. Arka Ganapathi, Garke Matha - 

Just around the same premises, a larger temple cum residence, Ganesh temple called Arka Ganapathy.

Several generations of the Adiga family have been worshipping and maintaining the tradition. The present

The present Owner/Archak Sri Ramaprasad Adiga is very enterpresing and made the temple well known with public relation and media publicity.

4. Sri Guru Narasimha Temple Saligrama:  

A 15 minutes drive from Garke Matha, we were at Saligrama Guru Narasimha Temple, had darshana and grand oota, as there is lunch prasada for hundreds of devotees coming to the temple.

After lunch, driving back to Udyavara, rest for half an hour.

5. Sri Durga Devi Devasthana, KunjaruGiri.

About 10 Km from Udyavara, there is a beautiful Durge Temple at Hilltop, called Giri and the view around the temple is simply beautiful.

In the evening it was time to have some tiffin, landed in a small hotel, Priyadarshini, Brahmagiri Circle, Udupi,  and had some Masala Dosa.

Then it was time to return home.

BRAHMOPADESHA - VIHAAN

 Wednesday 17th May 2023

Saraswathi Sabha Sadana, Chitpady, Udupi

Vihaan is son of Deepa Karthik.

Deepa is daughter of Veena.

Veena is daughter of my sister late Kamalakshi.

Vihaan's upanayana was to take place on 17th May at Udupi,  so we went to ooru by train on the night of Monday, 15th May, reached 16th Morning.

Went to Birthi, home, bath, pooja, lunch and sleep.

Evening there was get-together at the venue, socializing, and dinnerk home.

Next day morning  by 9 am, and procedure of Thread ceremony followed by number of Purohiths.

GET - TOGETHER 16/5/2023

Grand lunch followed with holige, and other sweets.

wished the new VATU, God's blessings and left from the place.

BHIMA JEWLLERS - HBR LAYOUT

 Monday, 15th May 2023

BHIMA JEWLLERS, HBR LAYOUT, BENGALURU.

We went to Bhima Jewllers at HBR Layout, which is 10 minutes drive from here.

It was to buy some silver gifts for Upanayana and Wedding Functions at Ooru and at Bengaluru.

The shop has excellent interiors, the staff are very courteous and smart.

We had small purchase and left from the place.

HOMA POOJA - RAMESH/ARUNDATHI AITHAL

15th Cross, Bhuvaneshwarinagara, Bengaluru.

Ramesh-Arundathi Aithal, a nice couple, lives in a beautiful house at 15th Cross.

They have two daughters, Aruna and Aparna.

Aithals live with their daughter Aruna and S-I-L Ramakanth Maiyya.

Ramesh Aithal celebrating completing 80 years, invited many relatives, friends and well wishers.

After the Pavamana Homa, Satynarayana Pooja, there was grand lunch.

Antina unde, mysore paak and mango rasayana were special dishes.

Returned home after lunch.

VAIJAYANTHIPURA - SANTOSHAKUMAR MEHENDALE

ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯನ್ನು ಓದಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಆಯ್ತು.

ಅದೊಂದು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಅನುಭವ. ಮೆಹೆಂದಳೆ ಅವರು ಅಸ್ಟೊಂದು ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಪುಟವಾಗಿ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 

4 ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಕದಂಬರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯ ಬನವಾಸಿ (ವೈಜಯಂತಿಪುರ) ಯ ಕಥನ.

ಓದುವಾಗ, ನಾವೇ ಆ ಕಾಲಘಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದು ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶಗಳನ್ನು ಕಣ್ಣ ಮುಂದೆ ನೋಡುವಂತಿದೆ.

ವೈಜಯಂತಿಪುರದ  ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದ ವರ್ಣನೆ, ಯುದ್ಧದ ಭಯಾನಕ ದ್ರಷ್ಯಗಳು ಮರೆಯಲಾಗದಂತಿದೆ.
