NAVARATRI is nine-day festival dedicated to DeviDurga all over India and abroad. The nine days represent nine manifestation of Goddess Durga. During nine days of festival, nine forms of Shakti (NavaDurge) energy is worshipped across the country. The tenth day is celebrated as VijayaDashami, DasaraFestival.
The nine forms of Durge (Shakthi) worshipped during nine nights of Navratri are Durge, Kali, Amba(Jagadamba), Annaporna, SarvaMangala, Bhairavi, Chandika, Lalitha and Mookambika
In our state of Karnataka, Ayudha Puja , ninth day of Mysore Dasara Festival, is celebrated with worship of implements used in daily life such as computers, books, vehicles and kitchen tools.The effort is see the divinity in tools and objects we use in our daily life and bring success and prosperity.
Dasara, is state festival of Karnataka, which is celebrated over a ten-day period. On the tenth day, called VIJAYADASHAMI, the traditional Dasara procession (Known as Jamboo Savari) is held on the streets of Mysore. An image of Goddess Chamundeshwari is placed on a golden howdah on the back of a decorated elephant and taken on a procession, accompanied by tableaux, dance groups, music bands, decorated elephants, horses and camels.
We, here at BirthiMane, NammaBengaluru, celebrated Navratri with family get-together on Sunday, 2nd October 2016 with relations coming home for lunch. About 35 people including senior member of the family, youngsters and children. Unfortunately we were missing our sons, Ravikanth-Vidya and Rishikanth, as they had previously committed programs.
However, lunch was good catering done by Adige Navuda, buffet in the ground floor.
Ladies were given Haldi Kumkum, and a small gift and everyone dispersed after 5 pm
