CHANDIKA HOMA - SUBRAMANYA TEMPLE

CHANDIKA HOMA is sacred fire prayer performed to invoke the blessings of Goddess Chandi, the fierce and powerful form of Goddess Shakthi... Goddess Chandi is embodiment of power on all devine forced and perfects one's body and mind.


The ceremony involves recitation of Durga SapthaShati, which conains 700 powerful mantras in the praise of Goddess Durga, in which she defeats various demons. With recitation of each verse, offerings are made in the sacrificial fire invoking the Goddess. It is believed that performing the ritual, bestows health, wealth, prosperity and power to accomplish success in life.



Shivananda Somayaji, S/o Sripathi Somayaji, cousin brother from the family decided to perform the ceremony in Bengaluru Subramanya Temple at HSR LayOut. It was two hour drive from our house in Hebbala, in Bengaluru Traffic. We were at the venue at 11.30 am when the homa is going on.


Number of purohits, led by chief Purohit was performing the ritual with chanting mantras ludly and in unison and offerings to the sacred fire. There was a beautiful portrait of Goddess Durga created by colored powders.



At the end of offerings, there was Poornahuti and Maha Mangalarathi with sound of drums,Jagante and Shankha. It was real feeling of vibration and energy of Goddess Shakthi.


Theertha Prasada at the end of the ceremony and there Grand Lunch (Feast) with Laddu, MysuruPak and other items as usual.

RishiKanth joined us for lunch, as the venue was close to his office..


The drive back home was one hour, and reached at 3.30pm
