It was NAGACHANDRIKA's " GANACHANDRIKA" Cultural Foundation Anniversary Program.
NagaChandrika Bhat is a popular singer and sings different types of songs. Her GanaChandrika Cultural Foundation teaches children/adults to sing various forms of songs like Vachana, Bhavageethe, BhaktaGeethe, Shishugeetha etc etc.
They were celebrating 5th Anniversary with focus on Vachana Gayanotsava, songs and dances from Basavanna, 12th century social reformer.Vachana is form of rhythmic intelligent kannada texts, evolved in 11th Century and flourished in 12th Century, as part Sharana Movement.
There was Sabha Program with speeches from eminent people on Vachana Sahitya.
LahariBhat and her group from NrutyaKuteera presented two beautiful dances for songs from Basavanna's Vachanas. " ಬೆಟ್ಟದಾ ಮೇಲೊಂದು ಮನೆಯ ಮಾಡಿ", "ಇದು ಶರಣರಿಗೆ ಶರಣೆಂದು ಕರುಣಿಸು ಕೂಡಲ ಸಂಗಮ ದೇವಾ" "Bettada melondu maneya Maadi", "Edu shararige sharanendu karunisu koodala sangama deva" Their movements, action, facial expression and the costume were all superb. It was treat for eyes to watch their performance. Well Done girls.
There were also songs rendered by small children.
