Maduve (Wedding) is always celebrations for family, relatives and friends. Preparations start after finalizing the bride, with their family.

Ramakrishna is Nalini sister Sujatha's son and his marriage was fixed six months ago.The bride, Kavana's parents (Sudha and Sathyanarayana Acharya) live in Chennai, though they are originally from Kodavoor, near Udupi.

Maduve Sambrama takes place in different stages:

1. Engagement - (19/11/2020) took place, written in a separate blog earlier.

2. Naandi (ನಾಂದಿ), Samaavarthane, Kashiyatre (Friday, 20/11/2020) at Udyavara

The program is carried out simultaneously at bride's place to remove any obstacles for smooth wedding celebrations. 

The Groom's side the there is home for naandi samaavarthane by a purohith, and the then the boy pretends to go for KAASHIYATRE, and mother's brother stops him saying that there is girl from a good family wants to marry. So he agrees and returns is the usual drama, fun.

3. Wedding preparations - Thursday, 26th Nov.2020 - Udyavara

The family and relatives arrive, there is lot of excitement, Raghurama is busy arranging things for next day's wedding, women decides about which saari and gold to wear and they all want to put Mehandi (MADARANGI) for hands and special lady was invited to put

4. Wedding - Friday 27th November 2020

The brides party arrives first at the hall, prepared to welcome groom's party with pomp and pageantry (Dibbana). The brides father welcomes the groom with garland and takes him to the wedding stage, family, relatives following.

The bride and the grooms family and the close relatives assemble on the stage, purohiths chant the names of the father, grand father, and great grandfather of both sides.

The bride's uncle brings the bride with garland, comes to stage with lot of dhoom-dhaam, and on the stage she puts the garland to groom, waiting across a curtain. 

In those days, marriages are fixed by parents, and the girl sees the boy only on the stage, accepts him as her husband for life.

The usual rituals continue on the stage directed by purohiths, KANYADAANA, homa, SAPTHA PADHI, and MANGALYA DHARANA, and the girl handed over to boy and his family, for all future.

It's the time relatives and friends to socialize, catch up with events, these days main topic was CORONA virus, COVID and its effects.

Grand lunch (Feast) is normally arranged by girl's father (SatyaSatya) and about 250 people attended the wedding and had grand oota.

The girl's home coming to her new home also was celebration, with rice container with jaggery was dropped by her right leg, lamp is lit and milk is given to both.

Later in the night, fun continues with relatives stopping the boy for entering the room where girl is waiting. After some money rewards, boy goes to her room.

5. Satyanarayana Pooje, Aarathakshathe, Beegara Outhana - Sunday 29/11/2020, Udyavara.

Coming of new member of the family (Daughter-in-law) (ಸೊಸೆ) is celebrated with Satyanarayana Pooje, Aarathakshathe and grand lunch, which was arranged at Chambukal Shiva Temple hall in Udyavara.
