Shoobha, D/O Late brother B. Padmanaba Somayaji, celebrating her completing 60 years with family and friends with Music program and grand lunch at her residence.
Vijetha, s/o Shobha, describing the ocassion, said they do not believe in Homa and Havana (Religious ceremony), but rather celebrate the Happy ocassion with family and Friends and well wishers.
The house premises was beatifully decorated with shamiana and stage for Music program, and singer and Ex-student of Hongirana and Vinay Nadig and co-singer, Apoorva, and Keyboard and Taabla for accompaniement.
Music program continued up to 1 pm and after, when the guests proceeded for grand Lunch at the School Mess Hall. The menu included Poori, Pulav, Holige, Paayasa, along with Saaru, Huli, Palya etc.
We were there in the morning with Shubha-Raghu, after staying overnight at Harsha,The Fern Hotel at Shimogga.
Returned to Bengaluru at 11.30 pm after leaving Hongirana at 4 pm

ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 3ರಿಂದ 6ರವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆದ ನನ್ನ ಅರವತ್ತರ ಹುಟ್ಟುಹಬ್ಬದ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ ನನಗೆ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಗೂ ಮೀರಿದ ಅನುಭವವಾಯಿತು. ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳ ಸುರಿಮಳೆ, ಉಡುಗೊರೆಗಳು, ಸನ್ಮಾನಗಳು—ಎಲ್ಲವು ನನಗೆ ಸಂತಸ ತಂದರೂ, ನಾನು ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆಲ್ಲ ಅರ್ಹಳೇ ಎಂಬ ಆತ್ಮಸಂಶಯವೂ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡಿತು. ನಾನು ನನ್ನೊಳಗಿನ ಕರೆಗೆ ಓಗೊಟ್ಟು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ ಶೋಭಾ ಅಷ್ಟೇ; ಮಹಾ ಸಾಧಕಿಯಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಗೌರವ, ಹೊಗಳಿಕೆಗಳು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಭಾವಪರವಶಳನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿದವು.
ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 5ರಂದು ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರ ದಿನದಂದು ನನ್ನ ಬೃಹತ್ ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಸ್ಟೇಜಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಂಡಾಗ ನಾನು ಕಂಗಾಲಾದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಿರೋಧಿಸುವವಳಾದರೂ, ಅದರ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಶ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರೀತಿಗೆ ಮೌನವಾಗಿ ತಲೆಬಾಗಬೇಕಾಯಿತು. ನನ್ನ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಆ ಸಂದರ್ಭವನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮಾತು, ಸನ್ಮಾನಗಳಿಂದ ಭಾವಪರವಶಳಾದೆ. ಎಲ್ಲರ ಸಹಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಯೋಗದಿಂದ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಸತ್ಯವೆ, ಆದರೆ ಅದು ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಕನಸಾದ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಸಂತಸದ ಕಲಿಕೆಯ ವಾತಾವರಣ ನೀಡುವ ಶಾಲೆ ರೂಪಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾತ್ರ. ಆದರೂ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಎತ್ತರದ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟು ನೋಡಿದ ರೀತಿ ನನಗೆ ವಿಸ್ಮಯಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಂಡಿತು.
ನನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 6ರಂದು ಆಪ್ತ, ಸರಳ, ಸುಂದರ ಸಮಾರಂಭವನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಖರ್ಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ ರೀತಿ ನನಗೆ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ತಂದಿತು. ನನ್ನದೇ ಹಳೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಬ್ಬರ ಸಂಗೀತ ಸುಧೆ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ತಣಿಸಿತು. ಆಹ್ವಾನಿತರು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದು, ಅವರ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಳಜಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿದ ಕ್ಷಣಗಳು ನನಗೆ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದದಂತೆ ಅನಿಸಿತು.
ನನ್ನ ಬದುಕಿನ ಈ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿ, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿದ ಹೊಂಗಿರಣ ಕುಟುಂಬ, ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು, ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರು, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು—ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಹೃದಯಾಂತರಾಳದ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ. ಪಯಣ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೇ ಮುಗಿದಿಲ್ಲ; ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ದಾರಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಇದೆ. ರಾಬರ್ಟ್ ಫ್ರಾಸ್ಟ್ ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ:
*I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep.*
