It was with a high expectation we went to see "HOYSALESHWARA VISHNUVARDHANA" historical Kannada Drama at K H Kala Soudha, HanumanthNagara. at Bengaluru on Friday 12th April 2019.
It was a bit of disappointment as the group was not well prepared and well practiced. They made lot of effort but there was lack of energy. josh and a push in the play.

The play is about describing the Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana during the 10th Century, How they ruled Kannada Nadu and how they occupied Chalukyas, Cholas (Tamilians) in the Kanchipuram Area.
The play also describes how Belur, Halebeedu were constructed, how did Philosopher Ramanujacharya gain success in building KamaSutra scriptures in Beluru Halebeedu Temples.
Vishnuvardhana, Hoyslala King,(1108 - 1152 CE), was great soldier and an ambitious King of Hoysala Empire. He fought series of battles with his overlords Chalukya King Vikramaditya VI and Chola Empire in the south.
Vishnuvardhana was a great builder and supporter of Vaishnavism. Belur Chennakeshava Temple was built , dedicated to Lord Vishnu and KeerthiNarayana Temple at Talakad.
Vishnuvardhan's queen Shantala also built number of temples.
The play does not show any battles except for sword fight between Vishnuvardhana and Vikramaditya. There were also couple of classical dances with the recorded music. The comedy characters KrishnaChakra and ShankaChakra acted well, and the minister in Vikramaditya's court Kalidasayya also acted well with clarity of dialogues.
About 120 minutes play could be presented better with little more attention to details of stage, costumes and delivery of dialogues of some kalavidaru. The stage setting, lighting were good.
