Coffee Board Park, Kempapura, Bengaluru.
India's Independence day celebrations (Amrutha Mahotsava) are held all over India and abroad, and this year it is special as it is 75th celebrations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave his speech to the nation at the Red Fort, Delhi for consecutive seventh time, and no doubt, he is doing a good job as a leader.
Here, near our house, Birthimane, Bengaluru, there was flag hoisting ceremony at Coffee board Park in the morning at 8 a.m, organised by Byatarayanapura Unit Kannada Sahitya Parishath.
Flag hoisting was done by a retired Military person, after which 'JANA-GANA=MANA" was sung by all present. About 50 residents near by were present for the celebrations.
Earlier, children from Suma Public School came in a procession with Band escorting the Chief Guest and other VIP's.
Tri-colour flag was hoisted with due respect to the nation.
It reminded me of taking Ravi and Rishi to Indian Embassy at Dubai, for the Independence day celebrations when they were small and I was working at Our Own High School.
The interesting part was, after the celebrations, there used to be nice breakfast with chana, poori and number of sweets, sponsored by business men in Dubai.
After the celebrations at Park, some speeches and sweets, people dispersed.
We also had nice lunch at home with Shubha Raghu Lahari, Ravi Vidya and new member of the family URVI.
It was a day nicely spent.
