Gotras and Kula/Istha God.
1. For the Bhargava gotras, the clan deity is Inna Mahalingeshwar and the favorite deity is Mundkur Durgaparameshwari.
2. For Vishvamitra Gotras, Kula Deva is Ulluru Subrahmanya and Ishta Deva is Mahishamardini of Neelavara.
3. Alevoor Vishnumurthy Kuladev and Indrali Durga are favorite deities for Angirasa/Harita Gotras.
4. Seemanthur Janardhana is the family deity for the Kasyapa gotras and Katilu Durgaparameshwari is the Goddess of love.
5. Udupi Ananteshwar Kuladev and Bannanje Durge Ishtadev for Baradwaja Gotras.
6. Kongur Math has just started. Henceforth, it is the order of the Math that Harita Gotra should celebrate this as their family deity Gopalakrishna (Butter Krishna) and Ishta Deva Bannadka Narasimha.
Although Kadambalittaya, Kannaraya, Manjittaya and Saralaya are Angirasa gotras, Kodamgala Vishnumurthy is their clan deity. The reason for this is the wise men. This temple is also known as Puli temple because of these sages
In Shivalli there are people with the surname Aytinala (now Aitala). His family deity is called Perduru Gopalakrishna. Similarly, for Kanginnai, this is Kelamath Gopalakrishna. Many of the Puranikas, who were originally Kekunnayars of Kekuda, worship Chokkada Gopalakrishna as Kuladev.
When I inquired among many scholars about this, none of them specifically said that this is the case. Since we are immigrants from Talagunda (there is a Shivalli village there. According to Sri Srinivasa Tantris we got the name Shivalli sect from this village. There is no evidence that hundreds of Brahmin families came and settled in Shivalli on the Udupi side) after coming here we built a temple here as our clan god and as worshipers of the original mother. It is like starting to worship form as a god. Later, they migrated from here to different places and lost their connection with the original place in Kainkarya and started worshiping the god of Tamur as Kuladev. The reason for this may be that their clansmen stopped worshiping in the original temple.
