Karinja Hills, Near Bantwal.
|
Ragini, Subramanya |
Karinjeshwara Hilltop Shiva Temple is 14 km from Bantwal and 35 km from Mangaluru. The name came from Brahman youth named Karinttaya came to spread Sanathana Dharma about 800 years ago. It is on top of Karinja Betta (Hills) and half way up, there is Parvathi Temple.
We were at Vamanjooru, near Mangaluru at Subramanya Kordale's place left from there as early as 6 am. We reached the bottom of the Karinja Hills at 7 am and it has about 600 steps to climb up. After climbing 300 steps, we see Parvathi Temple and we continued climbing another 300 steps to reach Karinjeshwara Temple. On the way, we could see water pond on rocks and water from there is carried atop by Archaks for Pooja and Abhishek.
We waited till about 9 am, for temple priest to arrive and had the Deity Shiva's Darshan and prasada.
From the top of the hill and from the temple surroundings, it is beautiful view of the nature, greenaries and trees.
