"Old King and Three Children" - Kannada Drama presented by KalaGangotri was very good and effective.
It's story adapted from William Shakspeare, translated into Kannada by H S VenkateshaMoorthy and presented on stage by able direction of B V Rajaram and S Mangala.
It's story of 75 -year old King, with three daughters, whose Kadali Kingdom was very prosperous and peaceful with the able administration of the King. As he was getting old, he decided to share his Kingdom to his three daughters Kamala, Devaki and Gauri, before that, he wanted to see how much they loved him.
The first two daughters spoke nicely with high sounding words but the the third one, only spoke of her sincere and honest love for her father. The King becomes wild and decides to share his Kingdom to two daughters only and orders Gauri to leave the Kingdom.
Kamala & Devaki look after the King, the old man, very badly and chase him out from their houses and eventually, younger daughter Gauri takes care of him.
In the mean time local chief, Baramappa plans to take over the Kingdom by crooked means and gets killed and the elder sisters die to jealousy and cheating on each other.
The presentation of the play, running for 2 hours, without break, was excellent. The stage setting, music, costume, dialogues, the song and the dances were very pleasing and comforting.
The acting of 75 - year old King was superb and all the other artists conducted themselves very well.
On the whole, it was a good show.
