Sri BhogaNandishwara, Nandi Grama
Nandigrama is about 55 km from Bengaluru and has a beautiful, old Shiva Temple built in 9th century. Afterwords repeatedly renovated by successive dynasties Cholas, Hoysalas, Pallavas and Vijayanagara Empires.
The big temple house three deities, Sri Arunachaleshwara, (built by Ganga Dynasty) Umamaheshwara (Built by Hoysala Dynasty) and Bhoga Nandishwara (Belived to be built by Rajendra Cola of Chola Dynasty) The temple has a large water pond called Sringeri Thirtha, with beautiful steps on four sides, and many lamps and decorations on the sides.
Sri Yoga Nandishwara Temple, Nandi Hills
From Nandigrama, we proceeded by car to Nandi Hills, a distance of 20 km climbing the hill on a good winding road, coming cross many monkeys on the way.
More than 1000 years old Shiva temple built by Cholas, on the rocks at Nandi Hills, is a beautiful ancient temple. Lots of people visit the temple, There is also a pond on the rocks near the temple which has water throughout the year.
Nandi Hills is also known as NandiDurga, is a hill fortress, is at a height of 4700 ft above the sea level. It's also tourist attraction place, people go there during weeknds, holidays for fresh air, scenery, and getting away from busy city life.
There is an entrance fee of Rs. 175 collected when entering the fort.
Spent some time walking around, returned home at 5 pm after having tiffin at Nandi Upachar.
