Poovar Island, 27 Km fro Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala
Poovar is located at the juncture of Neyyar River joining with Arabian Sea. Boating trips in the area asre exquisite and can be arranged at the competitive rates.
Poovar Beach offers a wonderful view of the formation of backwaters and large amount of exotic wildlife. Golden sands are one of best picnic spots in the area.
There are lots of boats taking tourists 1 hour or one and a half hour trip. The rates are fixed by the Government and boat operators and on the boats also rates are affixed.
We took one hour boat trip for Rs 2500, after bargaining came down to Rs 2000 for two people. The boat has 8 seats and an extra person will cost Rs 500 each. We were let of at the beach for 10 minutes and were back after one hour.While going we were taken through the narrow canals of waters, coconut trees, mango trees and other shrubs.
After the trip, we are back at the starting point and proceeded for next destination, LightHouse.
