It was three-day event titled AMRUTHA MAHOTSAVA, second World Havyaka Conference, organized by Sri Akhila Havyaka Mahasabha, Bengaluru.
Havyakas are Hindu Vedic Brahmins from Karnataka, mostly from Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Shimoga District. They profess Advaita Philosophy propounded by Adi Shankaracharya.
Havyakas are followers of either Ramachandrapura Mutt or Swarnavalli mutt near Sirasi. They are primarily engaged in Vedic professions like priests or mainly agriculture specially growing betel nut, paddy, coconut or banana. Recently there are into other professions like health, military or education.
We visited the the event for a short while and walking around the premises. The Festival was massive, huge crowd and lots of areas of display of various things like food court, sale items, display of cows, Homa Kundas and a huge Program Hall. They have organized detailed program for three days with honoring distinguished personalities from various fields like Military, Education, Industries etc. It was a massive preparation for months and lot of people were involved.
They also had Yakshagana, Music program and Dance program as entertainment each evening.
Well done Havyaka Mahasabha for organizing such a massive event.
