Rangasthala, Near ChikkaBallapura.
A beautiful RanganathaSwamy Temple, near ChikkaBallapura, a distance of 60 km from Bengalore, is not known. It's only about 12 km from Nandi Grama where there is huge Yoga Bhoga Nandeeshwara temple. After visiting this temple, we proceeded to Rangasthala.
Mom's brother Satish and his family came for the weekend and decided to go to Nandi Grama, Nandi Hills and Ranganatha Temple at Rangasthala. RamakrishnaBabu also joined.
ThippanaHalli is about 3 km from ChikkaBallapura and when reached the temple, I could not belive that such a temple existed. It is one of the oldest temple in Bengaluru and wonderful example of art, architecture and takes you back to bygone days and the beauty of the place. There is effort to renovate and rejuvanate the place keeping the beauty of Sri RanganatheSwamy
The GrabhaGraha of the temple appears similar to the form of Bamboo Basket used in the village side. People believe that Lord Rama offered the idol of Lord Ranganatha (Vishnu) in a Bamboo basket to Vibhishana (Ravana's brother) during the Pattabhisheka of Lord Rama.
We spent about an hour watching the sculpture, reclining RanganathaSwamy and huge Gopura.
The place appears to be neglected, not well maintained, and lot of monkeys trouble the visitors.
From there we proceeded to Nandi Hills and spent about half an hour, returned home after lunch at Nandi Upachar.
