It was that afternoon, when we were proceeding to Sringeri, to attend the wedding, stopped over at the Agumbe spot.
The drive from Someshwar, foot of the western ghats, with 14 hairpin U-turns really tests one's driving skills. Though it's about 8 km on ghat section, you are climbing up and up and up.
At the topmost turn, there is viewer's point to watch sunset or simply appreciate scenic beauty of western ghats.
Agumbe, a small village in the Shimoga district of Karnataka, is one of the places that receive the heaviest rainfall in Southern India. The rains feed streams, rivers and the many waterfalls here.
Sunset Point: This place is located on the way up the hills that lead to Agumbe. From here, on a clear day, one can see the magnificent view of sunset and Arabian Sea, which lies many miles away.
As you get down from the car, monkeys of all sizes greet you and look for any food item you have.
