LEPAKSHI - TEMPLE VISIT

Lepakshi



From Vidurashttha, we proceeded to Lepakshi, a distance of 45 km, and the Google map showed shortest route, and the road was bad and through the villages.






Lepakshi is famous for architecture characterisd by hanging pillar and cave chanbers built during Vijayanagara Empire, during 1350 -1600 CE


The main deity is Veerabhadra Swamy, incarnation of Lord Shiva.  




The story goes that Lord Rama while searching for Sita, met the dying bird Jatayu at this spot. Jatayu had fought Ravana here and had had fallen wounded after trying to save.

Returning to Bangalore, a distance of 120 Km, joining the highway. and had lunch at Nandi Upahar.


Back home at Birthimane, and the next day, Supriya with son Avyaan, and parents Vijalakshmi & Ramachandra Bhat, left for homes.
