DEVARAYANA DURGA, near TUMKURU
Devarayana Durga is rocky hill station located 15 Km from Tumkur and about 60 Km from Bengaluru.
Yoga Narasimha Temple is situated at the top of rocky hill, climbing neatly laid out about 260 steps and one can sit on the sides when one is tired of climbing. Lots of monkeys of all sizes gives you company and it may take about 25 minutes for a normal person to reach the top. The lush green scenery keeps you fresh.
It is believed that Lord Brahma performed penance for thousands of years, and Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Narasimha here/. There is pond near the temple with sacred water believed to run through idol of Lord Narasimha.
Coming down the steps, to the base of hillocks We have another old Bhoga Narasimha Temple with beautiful architectural marvel.
After Darshan and visit of the temple, we had free Prasada lunch as (NITYA ANNA SANTARPANA BHAVANA) in the dining hall of the temple. It was served in a plate, payasa, rice, sambar and butter milk unlimited.
We returned to Bengaluru at 6 p m via Tumkuru after visiting Nagaveni / Nagaraja.
