K H Kalasoudha, HanumanthaNagara, Bengaluru.
MEGHADOOTHA, a poem of 111 stanzas, is one of Kalidasa's famous works in Sanskrit Language, written in 5th Century.
It recounts how a Yaksha (Manikanta), a subject of King Kubera, after being exiled for a year to Central India for neglecting his duties.
The Yaksha, convinces the passing clouds to take messages Cloud Messenger (Megha) to his beloved wife Maale, at Alaka at Kailasa at Himalayan Mountains.
He accomplishes this by describing the many beautiful sights the clouds will see on its northward journey to the city of Alaka, wher his wife awaits his return.
The play is presented beautifully on stage by Adamya artists with able direction of Malthesh Badigera. Prof. Narayna Bhat has written this for stage play.
All artists played their part with fiull enthusiasm and dialogues of Yaskha with Megha was very very long and the actor presented very ably and effectively. The props made for Megha to see during its journey is very superb. The songs, dances of children are all well presented.
The 90 - minute show with scenes of rivers, Kalabairava or Kailasa were all awesome.
The lighting and the stage effects were all good.
